Have to agree it’s frustrating to try to sell the vintage Bals. Their go-to is not, “This is deemed to be a counterfeit.” Rather, the lazy, CYA, “We are unable to authenticate this.”I wouldn’t trust them to pass it
They rejected the Caribou once they had it in hand. My guess is they didn’t even bother to look it up and/or verify it online. Granted, the seller didn’t provide a lot of information in the description (she generalized the year she bought it as “early 2000s and didn’t identify it by name), but I think the leather, hardware and tag were too unique for anyone who isn’t familiar with vintage Balenciaga to know that it was actually a rare oldie. When she submitted it to VC, they didn’t even accept the listing. They rejected it immediately - my guess is they saw the pebbled leather and irregular tag and decided it wasn’t real
This listing doesn’t provide many more details either. Combined with the irregularities of those vintage bags, I wouldn’t be surprised if eBay rejects it based on authenticity, unless it gets into the hands of someone who’s willing to put in the work to really authenticate it, which I don’t think they are
Meanwhile, buyer and seller are pulling their hair out.
