Basic common sense tells me this is Charlie Sheen... but if you read the full blind item, it also mentions this person being an "acting genius" as well as a "one of Hollywood's top megastars." It also mentions concern over his fans finding out, and fear that "he will be remembered not as a great actor but as someone who contracted the disease."

All of those clues pretty much rule Sheen out.

I agree, Charlie Sheen is not really know for his acting genius.

Don't focus too much on the description of "acting genius". We all know the tabloid media is prone to exaggeration. Charlie has made many millions from his acting and that feat alone probably qualifies him as a genius in their eyes. ;)

Radar Online makes it sound the most like it's Charlie Sheen. Though I can't see how any woman who slept with him in the past several years wouldn't know the risk she was taking if she had a brain in her head. If ever there was a poster child for unsafe behavior, it would be Charlie.

The middle-aged star learned at least two years ago that he had contracted HIV — but he has desperately hidden it from the world, terrified his fans will turn against him.

However, the star — known for a playboy lifestyle filled with one-night stands and sex-for-hire partners — has been “devastated” over his plight since doctors diagnosed the condition, according to a friend.

It is not known exactly how the actor contracted the virus, but the star has previously admitted to engaging in tattooing, injecting drugs and having sex with prostitutes — all activities that increase the risk of contracting the virus.

The star thought he was “indestructible” and took few precautions to protect himself against AIDS — even though he was indulging in high-risk sex practices, sources said.
“He led a dangerous lifestyle,” said one pal. “He’s learned this the hardest possible way.”

I think it's supposed to be Sheen. I looked it up earlier and there's been rumours about Sheen going back about 2 years. Since it's taken this long to surface in a more "mainstream" avenue I'm sure it's common knowledge in HWood. It could still be complete rubbish, I would imagine Sheen's weight and physical condition would have sparked all sorts of rumours that could be wrong.

I ran the thought of DiCatchaho at first too. But could be anyone - Hell, could even be Johnny Depp...

I don't think it's Sheen. Lately he would be a TV star - Definitely not a mega movie star - try mega train wreck.

True, but even in his heyday I don't think he was ever considered an acting genius. Don't get me wrong, I would not be surprised at all if it turned out to be Sheen. But the way I'm reading it, this BI comes off as someone that will surprise people. Maybe somebody with a Disney-ish or family-oriented film franchise? Something that could potentially lose fans over this type of revelation. I'm just guessing.

This BI is uncomfortable in a lot of ways. I don't like the idea of speculating about someone's medical condition, but I also think it is wrong for someone in this situation continuing to be sexually promiscuous.
