have not seen it in the US but saw a review from a client in Asia on instagram. She said it was more like a bathrobe than a cardigan, and not very wearable. She only purchased the dress. hope this helps!
I agree that this is not how luxury shopping should be. Unfortunately demand is so high for certain bags that this first come first served policy is how Chanel is trying to level the playing field. Before they put in this no shipping/no reservation restriction, popular bags like minis never even hit the floor, all were reserved by established clients as soon as the look book is released. Now at least new clients have a shot.
For some reason Chanel SAs are renowned for being very hit and miss, which for a fashion house that insists on the in store experience I would’ve thought they would demand more from their staff, but as things are now, the best way to go about getting a mini may just be keep trying different SAs at your local store until you find one that suits you. You may increase your chances of being notified about upcoming reservations/stock by making other purchases first.
I had to do this recently too for a mini so black 2.55, as the store only received one, and my SA had to ask approval from the manager to hold for me until the end of the day. My SA has told me previously they are pushing for customers to be in store for sales for quite some time now.
I had another SA hold a bag for me on launch day of cruise, as they only received one. I went to see it and didn't like it (cute but not functional for me), while I was trying it on, person sitting near me kept commenting how cute it was, snapped & sent some pics for their wechat/whatsapp and they ended up taking it instead. That's how quick some of the popular items go...no one else would have even seen it in person
I know how frustrating this is for you. I'm not sure how far your local store is near you but whenever you have free time try to pop into your local store just to show your face and say hello. If you see a Sa that you was reaching out to just be friendly and ask any new shipments in of mini's? Find out the total number that store ordered.
Funny when Bergdorf's pulled their stunt with me later that night I had two different Sa reaching back out to me with the exact same item.
I agree, this is probably the best advice to try hard to establish a local relationship with an SA and that one boutique in general. Not only the SA, but the boutique/Store Manager likes to see repeating loyal clients as well. They are the ones who gives out gifts for being loyal clients.
Especially important because you never know if Chanel will end up stopping all remote sales completely anytime in the future, like how they already did in Canada...

Totally agreed! Popular bags sell no matter what, like hotcakes, and they sell themselves. You have to keep in mind that If you want it, there are many other people who want it just as much, as well.
My SA told me that they no longer make any commission for selling bags and leather goods, so they have zero incentive to hold them for you or help you hunt for a bag if you are only a casual buyer and they don't see you as a valued client. This is a standalone. They are not getting paid extra for their time, when there will be somebody else who will easily buy the bags with zero effort when they go in the store. And with the potential of a casual buyer returning the bag, that will be an even bigger waste of their time that they never got paid for.
Commission payout may work differently at department stores, which may explain the discrepancies in the better and friendlier service in dept stores that some people have experienced and voiced about before and their willingness to hold bags for you. Because many of the department store Chanels are very small and don't even carry RTW or shoes or fine jewelry or perfumes, so they must have to be making commission still on the bags and slgs.
I LOVE IT! My SA just offered this to me, and I'm debating if I should get this or not. Do you like it? How does the beige tone actually look (I've only seen pictures). I've been wanting a mini with top handle for the longest time and so glad it was offered to me, but I'm really scared of the color transfer and wear/tear of light colored lambskin. Would love your thoughts since I'm sure you might have gone through a similar thought process!
Hi! . I have no problem with it being a lambskin as it feels much more durable. I have seen some lambskin before ( classic flap) and they are very delicate, you can really feel it! This one is opposite. I have a feeling it will wear very nicely. And regarding the colour: it is absolutely not a light colour. I would say you need to rub it against very dark denim to have a colour transfer.
The colour itself is amazing, but more in a warmer tone. I have neutral wardrobe, but much more cooler shades like taupe. So my concern is more colour undertone, then lambskin or durability. Hope it helps xxx

I had no intention of purchasing a Chanel bag when shopping at my local Saks this weekend. Of course I was lured in to the Chanel section by the beautiful spring colors. When my SA brought out the Ecru/beige mini top handle flap in lambskin that had just arrived, I was hooked. It is a color that cannot be truly captured in pictures. The hardware is beautiful, and the strap is intertwined with the ecru and beige colors. It so compliments the creamy color of this bag. I actually prefer the look of lambskin and never really had any issues with my light colored bags. I won't however take any chances by wearing this beauty with blue jeans. I would highly recommend you see the bag in person if possible before making a decision.
Yes you have to see this color in person to really grasp how stunning it is. It looks pretty in pictures but in person it’s even better!! I haven’t been excited about a color in a while but this ecru is soooo special!! I could even say it’s currently my FAVORITE bag!
Thanks for sharing your experience! I don't have any local stores around me, but my SA sent me a video, and it looks so stunning! I own a white small CF and thought it might be somewhat similar, but actually looks so unique. I decided to purchase it, so I should be able to see it in person soon.
