I feel patent gets dated looking fast once the season has past. It can be in style for one season, and then after that season, patent to me, tends to be too "shiny" and for my taste. I feel it can look a bit plastic cheap to me.

I've had patent shoes (e.g. pumps, ballets, loafers), and sad to say, I've gotten rid of them after only a few seasons. Hence, for me, I told myself no more patent shoes. I'm being honest here to help you decide especially since you are considering loafers and not pumps, which patent pumps one could argue has more longevity in terms of style.

On peeling, none of my past patent shoes peeled. Hence, if you love the patent look, which many people do, and are only worried about the leather, I think you will be fine. When I wore them, I wore them a lot without any issue (other than they are a bit stiff). To be fair though, I've only ever kept my patent shoes for maybe 2 years, max, so I don't know about patent durability for an extended period.

I no longer wear full patent shoes for the same reason, but I do still have patent toe, mixed media (fabric ) heels and ballerinas. They have never peeled. I also have a pair of patent fronted, suede backed pants from 2001 or 2003, that are in remarkable condition. They’ve only gotten a bit sticky/tacky to the touch in the last year or so of storage, but that dissipated when the weather changed. I wear them only occasionally.

I love the black toe, keep it!
I had a pale pink ballerina with black cap toe once, and I loved it! It was one of my favotrite ballerinas.
I wore it death, so it got beat up, and I got rid of it. I have yet been able to find that same combo... still waiting!

I currently have two pale pink ballerinas, one with a beige toe and the other all pale pink, but I don't find either as eye popping as my previous pale pink with black cap toe. Hence, I rarely wear them.

If you like that shade of deep salmon pink, keep! I think you will really love that pink salmon & black combo. It's feminine, yet it pops at the same time.

I feel like for the number of light pink clothes that Chanel makes they do not make a proportionate number of light pink shoes haha
I’ve also been waiting for light pink but I want light pink flat slingbacks with the black toecap.
I have some quilted ballerinas (why do they never make these anymore!) in very pale pink and I love them.
I don’t mind the black toe with pink but I wasn’t sure it suited this type of pink. I bought the top handle “Kelly” bag in this colour so couldn’t resist the shoes to match!

@Rainbowfish85 I think I have the exact same pair! It's quilted, pale pale pink, almost like an almond pink, with the same color cap toe. Ironically, for me... I rarely wear them! I think they are so blah, a black cap toe would have made them pop for me.

I agree with you on Chanel and pale pink shoes. I have pink bags, and Chanel makes a lot more pink bag variations than matching shoes which is a bummer because I, like you, love to do matching bags and shoes.

The next time Chanel comes out with a pale pink with black cap toe, I'm going to buy two pairs!
