perusing the Diet
Prada Instagram post and they’re throwing out Marc Jacob’s as a guess. Kinda wild…. It’s unfortunate it didn’t work out with her. I wonder if it was being in the spotlight that got to her.. I know she was directly under Karl for rtw for a while.
Agree with
@gracekelly above re the devil you know. I was at Chanel today and I overheard some talk about the hope for Marc Jacob’s. I never bought MJ for LV or MJ on his own, but I recall his pieces were very structured. It seemed like he executed his brief for LV in a competent fashion, but it didn’t personally appeal to me. I don’t see Hedi Slimane in this role at all.
VV was apparently commercially successful, and while I wasn’t her biggest fan, I found that the items I bought were very wearable. She also worked under KL for three decades (and I’m assuming did the nuts and bolts and so gave him time and space to shine) My SA said that her regular clients were surprised by the prices and simply bought fewer pieces.
I thought about buying a bell shaped navy boucle, sequined windowpane jacket with sailor collar. My SA brought my size in for me to try, but we ended up deciding on an entirely different sweater jacket and two knit tops . I think the items I purchased are nicer and better made than recent pieces from Dior or brunello. JMO though
Items I thought I would buy but didn’t:

Items I tried on that are simply rehashed OG Chanel type things, but with a more modern VV relaxed drape. I did like the last sweater jacke (with green interspersed with black, gray, and white, but I purchased the version with yellow instead) The white sweater was especially unflattering in the back (my SA simply said no, take it off, and she kindly took a back view pic to show me why lol)

Items I ended up buying (a total surprise)

ETA: this black, gray, white, and yellow sweater jacket reminds me of some separates from dior, but this is better fitted and better made (I’m not a fan of the last two years of MGC, so this is not a high bar, IMO). If this were dior, it would perhaps be cheaper, but also less pleasant to touch; less comfortable; and more logo-ed. I call it a sweater jacket, but it’s really a sweater, no lining and no jacket structure. The cashmere argyle vest is both preppy and sexy lol

And the black knit top is just a great basic
ETA: the chanel vest and mini skirt were bought by me in 2001P. They are a size 42. The current items I bought are a 36. The majority of my chanel is size 38. To give you a sense of vanity sizing over the years. I believe the jeans were size 38 and around 2300 USD. Ideally I would have tried on a 36 for comparison, but I decided, for that price, to skip.
The tags for the vest and black top are in the following post
