May I ask which city/location in which you are located? I would be so sad if they started snatching up all the popular items!

I'm based in Hong Kong. I am lucky I bumped into a really good SA early last year that will help out and find pieces where possible. if I didn't ordered the navy version of the cardigan, I wouldn't even get a chance to see it (and ! never saw the pink version in real life)!

I do understand COVID and lock down have made stock level a lot lower compare to pre-COVID, but if I walk in any store nowadays without knowing any SA, it's really difficult to see any popular pieces. But at the time, you see all those re-seller (probably already a VIP from previous purchases) posting try on pictures, sizes, prices and how they can get it for people.

Yes- I mentioned this
I’m sorry to hear this happening in your part of the world as well
Lately I’ve seen Chanel boutiques not even letting new customers or walk-in customers see the most popular items - recently just to confirm what I’ve been seeing and hearing: I walked into a boutique that didn’t know me and asked to see some items- they wouldn’t show me anything I asked to see- even though I knew they had those items in the back - instead they brought out an older season jacket 2 sizes too small and told me it would stretch -
Very disappointing service to what could have been a new client -
I suppose with low inventory they need to hoard things - but it’s getting a bit ridiculous

Hi ladies! I'm a newbie to Chanel's rtw. Last week I saw and tried on this beautiful coat  from AW2020. My SA said these coats just arrived at the store. I'm very tempted to get it but the price ($10500) and it being from AW2020 made my paused.. Is it normal the collection from a year ago still in store? She just emailed that my size is still available. Should I wait for the new collection or get this? TIA! :flowers:

I think it’s a great coat. My SA pulls older stuff all the time. And, RTW prices are going up every year for staple items like this. It’s also hard to find ones size for some popular things (so much so that I started shopping the relatively more moderately priced Dior RTW), but I’m also waiting for sale. Having said all that, I started shopping chanel RTW when things were a fraction of the price, so dont buy anything unless it’s perfect and makes you dream at night. have fun!

@TankerToad, that’s horrible service. Ugh. Is chanel now so big that they don’t care about walk in clients? As a walk in, I just had the best experience at Dior next door on 57th st. Dior had an event going on in one of the salons and another SA later told me it was their busiest day since covid. Not only were they very nice, but the SA, the SM and another SA helping an established client (who was obviously spending a lot more than I was) all found time to pass lots of great stuff on to me in my size. Including stuff I asked for. I also hit it off with the tailor who suggested I come back for an interim fitting for a jacket bc she said things could change when she opened the seams. ( incidentally, I was also seriously underdressed in baggy jeans and a t shirt bc DH and I were just at Turnbull where they don’t care how you dress to order shirts).

What struck me about Dior was that the staff clearly worked as a team, unlike at chanel or brunello where it’s kind of up to the SA to gather all the stuff together and wheel down a rack. (my brunello SA actually said it’s like the Hunger Games trying to hold/hide stuff for her clients). And, when I went back for my fitting, the SM remembered me enough to chat and say hello, and my SA was waiting to greet me on the first floor. I do love my chanel SA, but I was really floored by the level of Dior service to a random walk in. It doesn’t hurt that DH loved the Dior pieces I got and wanted to see the new look book Email. (sadly he’s never reacted that way to chanel).

What a lovely post! And this speaks to exactly my point. I have had and do have lovely Chanel SAs but the idea that a potential new client walk in should be treated poorly is so disappointing. I know the location of that Dior but have never been in- your experience sounds wonderful and in my opinion the magical feeling luxury should give one.
NYC VCA has that feeling - from the first time walking in they made me feel welcome and respected. And they all also work as a team - everyone remembers your name and is kind.
Have you posted on the Dior RTW thread? I’ll have to look!
That your husband is loving Dior is an added bonus. So fun!!

I have always loved Dior and their services! My boy was on a business trip pre-COVID and he went to a Dior boutique after he got off work. He was just casually talking to the SA about a limited edition item that he was eyeing bc he is a huge fan of the ever brilliant Mr. Kim Jones. The SA told him to wait, went to the back, and came back with the very item he was dreaming of. The SA said that they just got the shipment a few days ago and he did not mind selling it to someone who had no previous purchase with him bc he simply wanted to spread joy. What a wonderful person.

I do have some complaints regarding the service at Dior Men on 57th haha. The service next door for us ladies is much better. Several years ago some SA over at Dior Men tried to pressure us into buying a defect just bc “it’s the last one we have”. It was absurd.

This is the best! So happy ro hear about this great experience! At these prices, shouldnt everything spark joy!

thanks @TankerToad! Yes, I did post on the Dior RTW thread (bought three pieces);tried a bunch more; and the SA (with the tailor riding shotgun as to optimal cut) is on the look out for things as they come in for fall. Plus, they took the time to walk me through some couture pieces (just because they were excited and wanted to show me how beautifully they were finished on the inside) even though i explained clearly that couture was not (ever) going to be in my budget

Ladies, I need some help. Does anyone own this jacket from Egypt? I spotted one in excellent condition recently (over 60 percent off retail) and I am so tempted. I tried it on in the boutique at full price and the Lesage tweed is AMAZING, but I paused because of the price ... and the usual question of “where am I wearing this??” Needless to say, I am sure the answer to that question is even more limited in our pandemic era, but I am also being swayed by (1) VV doesn’t seem to use tweeds the way Karl did and (2) when they’re Lesage, the current price is way beyond my reach. I also note, of course, that Metiers and sale are around the corner... All opinions welcome!

I like how the lovely Arisa wore it. Maybe a bit difficult to dress it down and pull off the double breasted front, but Arisa did it well. Pictures from IG.
I have the skirt and it’s really shiny.

I have a question for the lovely ladies here: often times a Chanel jacket is easily paired with a simple white T-shirt. I found some round neck jackets with larger neck opening vs. crewneck t-shirts. So they look a bit awkward together. scoop neck t-shirts seem to be more rare...what do you normally wear under a round neck jacket? do you have a favorite style and brand of t-shirt to share?

TIA

I wear round neck Uniqlo t-shirts. They seem to match the neckline of my jackets well. :amuse:
