Chanel RTW ~ Reveals, Chit-chat & Info thread

This is a chit chat thread, right? So anything can be asked? Well, I wanted to ask you guys how you feel shopping at a boutique vs. a boutique inside a department store? Yesterday I reached out to a NM SA, who is totally out of state, that I follow on IG. Those embroidered jeans are completely sold out in my size(s) at my local boutique. My local boutique SA tried getting them shipped to me from another boutique and my order got cancelled. On the other hand, my NM SA had both colors that I wanted and in different sizes. She said she was totally fine shipping me different sizes and colors to try on, but I think my boutique SA would not have done that for me because it doesn't look good when things are returned. Then my NM SA started texting me a bunch of stuff that I haven't seen from my local boutique, so now I'm starting to think if it's better to shop through a smaller NM because they have much more inventory than my very busy local boutique? My local boutique SA is definitely very helpful and I love her, but I feel like she has so many restrictions she has to work around because they just have more "rules." One last thing-- my impression is that Chanel boutique tailors (seamstresses?) are like magicians and are at the top of their game. What about alterations at NM?

If NM has things you like in your size that you haven’t seen at your boutique, I see nothing wrong with buying from NM. My boutique SA has even told me to do so, but I don’t know if that’s just her or if other SA’s suggest the same. I’ve had alterations at both boutique and NM and have no complaints.

I love the long sleeve black dress with the embellishments around the collar and sleeves! I saw it in my boutique and was going to try it on until i learned the price  Definitely beyond my spending comfort zone gah

Me too hehe !
My neimans used to charge extra for alterations but now it’s hybrid leased it is included. I would shop where you are comfortable. I think neimans is still on commission and the boutiques are salaried for the most part ? Nm is my only option locally :)

I am trying hard not to like this one because I think it is a bit pricey for what it is. However, it is SO COMFORTABLE on. Light, soft and stretchy. This one is not my size, another customer was buying it and was gracious to let me slip it on. My size is coming and I might be tempted to try it again. After all it does have someView attachment 5015024 pink.....
I love this cardigan on you! The colors are perfect. How is the fit?

London, this was a larger size than my usual, I think it was a 40. It was big for me, however my SA indicated it would be a TTS fit and the 36 would be perfect for me if I decided to get it. She indicated her clients were finding they were taking their normal size. The lady who bought this one looked wonderful in it. Not too fitted, not too cropped and it was a nice structured sweater/jacket. Regular sleeve length. If you are considering it, I would chose your usual size.

You should shop wherever you feel comfortable esp for pieces where your local boutique SA cannot find for you! The jeans are adorable and I hope you can find them in your size!

I prefer trying on in person (due to weight and fit issues), and I personally hate returning things. Since covid, I have not been physically inside Bergdorfs or Saks, just local boutiques (mainly Hermes, Chanel and Brunello) bc I feel safer in smaller spaces. It probably makes no sense in terms of actual safety.

My chanel boutique SA sometimes has a hard time getting my size. My brunello SA can get my size, but Italy is recalling lots of the more unique pieces, so sometimes it’s like the hunger games getting what i want in the size i need. Someone here posted that people are shopping less, but I think people are shopping more bc they aren’t traveling or doing much else. Of course there is still plenty left for sale, but it’s pretty clear which things will go fast. JMO

Snowball, thanks for your input.

Ok so this falls in the chit chat part of the thread - I posted a photo of this once but I’m finally getting around to styling it - this is here with a celedon buttery leather blazer from Hermès - this is the Chanel bracelet we found in the back of the drawer at my Chanel boutique in December - don’t think it was on sale but it’s just so darn cool and fun - it’s from the Sand Collection
Sorry to be a bit random but just want to share my delight
Gorgeous!! The color is just great! With the bracelet is really fab!

What is the price for this cardigan, snowball?

London, I also got this pink cardigan shipped to me in my normal size. When I was at the boutique trying it on, I tried on a size 36 and a 42 because that’s what they had closest to my normal 38. Both fit ok, but the my normal size fit the best. It’s actually a very stretchy material, so it just depends! If I can recall, it’s $4100 @chaneljewel

@880 thanks! Yea, I also feel like people are shopping more, too! I definitely am as my discretionary spending is not going towards travel at this moment. Also, because of supply chain issues, it just seems like there’s a shortage of everything...including chanel boxes, chanel ribbons and chanel camellias

Can you tell me more about BC recalling pieces? I am not sure what that means? Because they don't have enough? I have had BC reach out to me more in the last year for sale pieces than they ever did before.
