Hi everyone, just wanted to get your opinions… I’m torn between 2 beautiful reissue bags. I own and love my 20A reissue so black chevron mini with iridescent hardware, but recently came across a so black chevron in size 225. I’ve been wanting a small / medium sized so black bag and the 225 fits the bill. However, the reissue mini has been my workhorse and I absolutely love how durable it is and its rainbow chain. Which one should I keep?

Both? Jk (but they are both amazing)

If you can only keep one, and I may be a tad partial (since I also have the mini from 20A), I’d vote for the mini. Since it’s your workhorse, it clearly fits your lifestyle and you may find the other to be too big/cumbersome; however, if you’re hoping to carry a tad more vs the mini, maybe it is time for an upgrade to the 225. Again, I’d stick with the mini, but you need to think about what suits you, your wardrobe and lifestyle the best. Good luck!

The 225 doesn't have the rainbow chain? I thought all the 20A so black chevron reissues have rainbow chain. I’d keep both, if possible. Sorry. Not much help here. I love the chevrons, too. If I could, I’d collect one in all sizes!

I’d keep the mini if the capacity works for you. It is lighter in weight. I have a 225 but Ikeep thinking about getting a mini because I would not take the 225 on vacay but I know I’d definitely take the mini reissue on vacay. The 225 works just fine as a crossbody but the weight is noticeable.

I have the same mini reissue. And was the hunt for the 225 size. So my short answer is keep the 225 size.

I wound getting the 225 size in black chevron with aged gold hardware.

Or you can keep both.

Thanks for your input! I do love the mini size and right now I’m leaning towards keeping it. Compared to the 225, the leather on this mini feels stiffer somehow and more durable. I also love the edge stitching. It looks brand new even though I’ve worn it around the clock since I got it. I just wish it’s a tad bigger. The 225 looks nicer as a double strap shoulder bag. ☺️ Glad you love yours too!

Yes and no. The iridescent hardware makes the bag I think … I doubt I would love it as much without it. But yeah I do wish it’s a tad bigger. I believe there’s a size 225 chevron so black with edge stitching and iridescent hardware too. I have to look for that.

Yes good point! I love bringing my reissue mini with me on vacations. I can literally throw it around and it still looks like new. I did notice the 225 does dig into my shoulder a bit when full. I hope you find a mini one day! It’s a must in my opinion. If I end up not keeping this mini, I plan to buy another mini in the future in a different color. I absolutely love reissue minis.

If that’s the case I think keep your mini and say farewell only when you can find the So Black 225 with the hardware you really love! Of course I am also in the KEEP BOTH camp but if it were me and I loved the color/hardware combo of the mini that much I would get a 225 in a completely different color.

I am currently actively looking for a mini reissue in so black quilted or black with ruthenium hardware. But thank you for the encouragement! The only place I see them pop up is FP and they are way above retail...so hoping Chanel releases them again soon. Unless you can make a hefty profit by selling your mini, I think you should keep your mini and buy a 225 in a different combo.Maybe the classic black with aged ghw or rhw? They are both stunning and of course classic.There’s a navy 225 with rhw I saw on eBay recently that was decently priced. I just wouldn’t let go of a size that you know works for you.

Its a difficult decision. I was also in the same dilemma. I initially owned the mini version of the so black chevron reissue but deep down I kept wishing is was the 225 size. So I eventually sold the so black mini and acquired the 225 so black chevron reissue and I am very happy with my decision. i notice the 225 size so black reissues on Fashionphile always get snatched up quick. The 225 size makes my heart sing. I can always get a mini reissue in a cute color later on.

What's the selection like in Paris this time of year? Do you think it will be hard to find a reissue mini that matches roughly what I'm looking for?

I just got back from Paris. Want to share my experience with you. I went to both Rue Cambon stores, both Av. Montaigne stores, stood in endless queues in Galeries Laffayette but couldn't get in. There is no stock available for anything. I originally wanted the 2.55 and some o cases/pouch/wallet. But none available in any size. Then I asked for timeless classic or woc - again not available. They have lots of 19's and other seasonal bags from cruise 22 on display. but all classic bags in any colour no stock. saw other clients try on gabrielle bag in mini size and boy bag in one store.
Shoes also same story. I wanted classic quilted black ballerinas but not available in my size. one of the SA's told me that they have only sizes upto 34 right now all of Paris.
Maybe it's just not the right time for me, I couldn't find anything. Hope you have better luck and get your dream bag. Good luck!

I'm seriously considering a reverse chevron 2.55 in sheepskin from 2017, from a reseller, but was wondering if anyone can speak to the wear and tear?

Heard sheepskin is more durable than lamb, but it looks quite matte / dry... so I'm worried the back will quick crease from opening/closing the flap.

I have a 17S so-black chevron reissue (227 size) bought in May 2017 which is also from the 238xxx series. Interior is black (as it’s the all-black version) but it’s calfskin leather (non-distressed). I was told the inverted chevron reissues from 2017 came in either sheepskin (released first?) as well as calfskin (later in the season). Did your bag tag say 17P? The leather in your pic looks a lot like mine so just wondering whether it’s actually calfskin and not sheepskin.

Sorry if someone has already answered this.

I have this same bag but size 226. It’s pink inside as it’s classed as a seasonal reissue, due to it being sheepskin and it being reverse chevron rather than the stitching going in just one direction like on the classic aged calf styles.

I bought mine in November last year from Chanel Sloane street, it came with the classic dust bag but no felts, however I didn’t ask for tbh.

Funnily enough I actually went to Harrods and tried this bag and passed on it as it had scratches on it and I didn’t want to compromise even though I LOVED it. I Was lucky enough to get the Sloane boutique and they had the same style. This style is from the Pre fall 2017 Paris Ritz metier d’art collection.

Re the sheepskin. It is super hard wearing, the only thing I have used on it is the collonil leather gel which you can buy from Mulberry and is great for keeping it fresh and clean! I have to say I am still head over heels for this reissue.

I hope you enjoy your 225 as much as I do mine, it’s a great bag

As this is the reissue thread, I must say that I have my reissue, which I consider one of my best bags, in lambskin, but I also love my 19, which is light and easy to wear and matches with every outfit and always looks fresh and modern.

Hello! I recently purchased a pre owned beige reissue 225 in what the seller claims to be distressed leather. It’s a shiny leather type that’s not quite patent leather, but not quite aged leather either. I’m really trying to stay away from patent leather given the color transfer issues! Can I get your help evaluating if the bag is in some type of patent leather (ie distressed patent)?
