Hi is Chanel still in inch eon airport cos cannot find it in the airport shopping directory . TIA

yes, it should still be there. If you go on the Chanel website, and go to store locator - Seoul - Incehon, it still shows. Its in the KTO Duty Free Shop 3F passenger terminal.

On the Airport website, it shows uder Duty Free Korea and not under Shilla or Lotte anymore. I think Chanel left Shilla Duty free after LV went in there and was given a very generous terms and conditions so it ticked off Gucci and Chanel so they moved out of Shilla.

Chanel in incheon or the duty free shops - Lotte Duty/Shilla Duty free ARE NOT cheaper. I purchased the classic flap at the Lotte Duty free for $4710USD. These stores charge in US dollars. If you are coming from Canada or USA where there are high state or provincial taxes than its worth it cause u are saving the tax. I saved a couple of hundred dollars vs purchasing it in Canada where taxes are 13% ($4550 x 1.13 =$5141)

The chanel boutiques are crazily marked up in korea. All luxury items are heavily marked up. The medium flap in the boutique is $6,100,000 KRW, jumbo is $6,800,000KRW which is about $6000+. Even with tax refund as a foreigner its only 7% and after the commission/service fee at the airport its probably less.

I saw the GST and PST but didnt really pay attention to the prices but it think it was around $2680 for the pst and gst would be more.

Mon_ma888, thanks for the precise info!

Just wondering when you bought from dfs, are you given whole package ie box, paperbag etc?

I dont get to take it with me cause they send it to the airport and i pick it up when i depart seoul. They gave me a brand new one from the box but i dont know how the would package it or if its wrap with the chanel ribbon and flower. After i paid, they put the receipt in the box for it to be shipped out i guess. But i would probably get rid of the packaging cause i wouldnt want to walk through customs with it :(

So you purchased the bag at Dfs shop in town and only collect it at the airport when you depart?

yes i purchased it in town. Seoul has duty free shops all over the city - Lotte Duty free and Shilla duty free. Its only for foreigners who have a foreign passport and plane ticket departing seoul. Local koreans can shop at them up to $3000USD duty free if they are departing internationally but they only have an exemption limit of $400usd coming back.

You can only pick your duty free items at the airport after immigration but i would probably get rid of the packaging cause i wouldnt want to walk through customs with it

So what are the prices like in comparison to the us? I'm going there later on in the year and I'm hoping it would be on par with the us or a bit cheaper. The maxi flap is 6400 in Australia!!

I don't know if the duty free chanel stores so all the pretty packaging, but chanel will give you a box. I've purchased a GST from them about a year ago and they gave me a huge box with tons of tissue paper. But no flower or ribbons.

There are two Chanel stores at the Incheon airport. One is operated by Shilla Duty Free, and the other is operated by the Office of Tourism. There are also Chanel stores within the city at Lotte Duty Free and Shilla Duty Free.
