Chanel Price Increase Vs Quality

So I will attach pics here of 2 REV jumbos that I think are best of the best w/ caviar …and this seasons iridescent caviar … also the 19s have held up well. View attachment 5313844View attachment 5313845View attachment 5313846
Just curious, how can you say your bags have held up well if you have so many of them and they’re newer seasons.

The only times I am able to say a bag has held up well is after a few years of continuous use.

Your bags are gorgeous by the way, so special!

Hey guys,
I purchased the 22c small classic flap in light beige, and I discovered tonight that there seems to be some type of ‘coating’ on the metal chains which I can scratch off. I don’t have this on any of my other 3 classic flaps. Does anyone know what this is? Is this normal, or should I take it to get checked out at the boutique?641F4643-E8F9-4C4E-974A-D2CAF819432D.png641F4643-E8F9-4C4E-974A-D2CAF819432D.png084DCB9C-0055-4A4A-A4DA-929E8FA3D63B.png

I’m not sure what that is. When you scratched it off, did the chain look like new again or did this “coating” leave traces?

The chain is still the same light gold colour and looks new with no scratches. In order for it to not leave any traces, I have to go around the whole link and scratch off the coating all the way around if that makes sense

Considering the cost of the bag, I would contact Chanel and see what can be done. If they are unable to help, only then would I remove the coating myself.

My medium classic flap bag had a loose stitch after 4 months old. I bought it from a chanel boutique. Note: I wore the bag less than 10 times.
Today, I dropped the bag at the boutique for repair. They said it would take 10-12 weeks

UPDATE: Just got a phone call from the Chanel alteration specialist that my bag is ready for pickup! She said it was a minor stitching issue which could be fixed easily at the boutique. Unbelievable! I am so happy that I can have my bag back in no time

Glad to hear that it got fixed so quickly! I had a loose stitch on my boy bag years ago, was super upset cause it was brand new and I haven’t even used it. They were able to fix it within a week and I had no issue with the bag ever since

Wow, it seems the stitching issue is common with chanel bags! I am glad to hear that it didn’t take much time to fix the bag for you too. Mine was less than 24 hour so Both of us are considered lucky. Now I just hope that my bag is fixed properly and looks seamlessly.

Question:

I recently bought a chanel small flap. I noticed there’s a difference with the leather quality compared to my medium flap. My medium flap is 29 series. It has a sturdier and matte leather. It has flat inner bottom.

On the other hand, my small flap is less sturdy, softer caviar with flimsy middle section. It has puffy bottom where the leather did not touch flatly onto the bottom.

is this normal?

I have a 20year chanel profile and I can’t say that I haven’t had issues. Honestly. Prior to 2010- I’ve never had issues with quality. However, in the last several years- I have declined to purchase bags, returned several because of lopsided flaps, stitching issues.
My 21S pink iridescent lambskin flap got color transfer the first day I wore it with a medium colored shirt. I immediately sold it and purchased a caviar version of the same bag.
I have had to return two bags recently due to lopsided flaps. Both coco handles.
My pink sakura 22C small flap had hardware that began to rust! And I never even used the bag. It had tags on it when I sent it off for repair. So, yes, quality has declined, IMO. However, some of the REV classic bags in black and beige I have seen are stunning- but again- this varies on the leather for the that season. I noticed some are shiny and puffy quilts while others are flat, grainy and matte.
Chanel IS all over the place.
I agree. Do you prefer shiny puffy quilts or flat, grainy matte?

Hi! I am interested in buying my first Chanel bag. I had my heart set on the CF in caviar. My husband and I went to go see them and we were disappointed. He immediately pointed out that the leather looked really cheap. We asked to see lambskin and fell in love with it, but the SA sort of scared us out of it. I’ve seen so many beautiful pictures of caviar CF’s online. Was the dull caviar with seemingly huge grains a reflection of overall quality going down or do you think I’ll have better luck by looking at some other cf’s? We went to two stores and noticed that the caviar on a boy bag and a coco handle was much nicer. Would you recommend shopping around for another CF or going the coco handle route?

If you have your heart set on the CF in caviar, I think you should continue to shop around.
Try and find a good SA, that definitely helps

I just purchased my first Chanel. Medium CF in Caviar. Unfortunately the caviar seems a bit dull to me and I just noticed when peeling the sticker that there is a scratch on the HW! A few other things have bothered me such as a micro uneven-ness on the front and saggy/puffy interior but was willing to overlook those. It is my first CF so dont really have anything to compare to. I didn't have the greatest experience in the store - felt a bit rushed when picking up. I reached out to the SA after discovering the scratch with no reply. When i called the 800 number a few times and spoke to various agents - they said my best bet is to go back to the store I purchased (saks) and "see if they will put me on another list" but that Chanel boutiques are no longer doing a waitlist for the CFs? I'm so frustrated and confused - feeling like I have no options to replace. I know this is hard to find and I dont mind waiting, but the fact that no one will help me source a replacement is terrible for a 10K purchase and I really dont want to go back to a store I did not have a good experience in.

I am debating going to another store in person to explain the situation and see what they will do. Has anyone had this issue. Its hard to believe that I'm unable to exchange the bag if there is no wait list and the SA doesnt reply.. I only have a 14 day window so there is only so much time i can go from store to store to beg for my business. :confused1:

Go on and return it. I just checked my new medium classic flap I got and it had no unevenness, no scratches, and no puffy/saggy interior. So it’s possible to not get a bag with those issues. With the price point I don’t think you should look over them. I had a coco handle that was scuffed straight out of the box and returned it.

Client services is right. They won’t waitlist you for the standard color classic flaps anymore. This is a huge advantage for you. It means you can just walk in a store and actually see one on the floor available to purchase instead of them all being reserved. The black flap is the easiest to get imo because the stores consistently order them and they cannot be reserved. Return your bag and check the Chanel stock thread here. Medium black classic flaps are posted often.
