Chanel Price Increase *please include location*

This was just posted on another site, she bought a M/L in Sydney Aus. for 6940AUD.. (still no increase over there)

"I purchased it on the 1st February. Prices usually go up on a week day so maybe it’ll be this week. The people who work there don’t seem to know a thing about when it’ll increase. One person told me it’ll be May and the other said any day. It’s rumored to go up anywhere between 10-25%."

ok, there are way too many crazy rumours going round at the moment... this is somehow insane... Here are some of my thoughts on this

1) I'm pretty sure there will be a price increase again this year... But since Chanel is always tight-lipped about when, I think we can only wait until it happened; there shouldn't be spread specific dates because they are 99,9% wrong... when it happened, we will see and then it should be posted here but to spread rumoured dates only causes panic buys and that's not good

2) WOC and GST are already gone? I don't think so... for example WOC: still available with new colour/styles for the current Spring/Summer season... Someone wrote her SA told her that Chanel wants to establish a new design for the WOC in the future... So I'm sure the WOC per se won't be discontinued, only will it come in a new style (she said anyway it's not confirmed or official yet, so it's basically just a rumour)
The same for the GST: I think it will be still there in the future as a seaonal style and will come back regularly... Saks says it's officially discontinued - but why are there then new colours for Spring/Season????

3) discontinue the classic flaps for a while/reduce production? I don't buy this, too... even with all these exclusivity rumours going round, at first Chanel is still a company that wants to sell - so why should they loose clients/cut availability of a bag that is so popular and brings Chanel money because people buy it?!

Of course these are only my thoughts and we will see what Chanel has in store for its customers in the future, but there is too much panic created at the moment, that's my opinion ;)

Quirky/diverse colors for flaps (seasonal flaps) rewind do the same with Boys (so in essence yes)..

AND you watch..their revenues will go up.

I would normally agree with you but the manager of this dept never in the past committed to "rumors" this time she verified with affirmation. She meets personally with the management at Chanel goes to Paris etc. etc.

I personally believe her.

Two years ago she said the production of classic flaps was going to be greatly reduced and they are. Chanel wants HERMES status, Karl has made that very clear. He IS taking a page out of their playbook.

if it's indeed true I feel very bad for future customers who want to buy a classic flap and will probably (worst case scenario) wait for year(s) to get it like a Kelly or Birkin at Hermes :tdown: This is somehow disappointing... What's the point in doing this?!

Since the Mini classic flap is a non classic but seasonal bag, it hopefully will be around more often, the same I hope for the WOC... I would like to buy one or two more Minis and WOC's in the future... But if Chanel keeps up with this exclusive policy, I will be done with Chanel bags in the not too distant future... Maybe I will buy only shoes or jewelry by then...

oh, and not to mention the resellers - prices will be insane (they already are, but it will get surely worse...)

Does that mean that the price of classic flaps for spring collection will not be affected in Europe? I will be going there in two weeks time hoping to purchase a classic flap :( I hope they wont increase the price just yet or I'll be really disappointed :(

With Chanel you can never tell... in two weeks the price increase might have already happened or not... Chanel never releases official info when the increase will happen, and SA's all tell different dates, so who knows...

I'm really crossing my fingers for you that there was no price increase already when you're in Europe in two weeks... But normally the price increase happens when the classic flaps of a new collection arrive, so that would be in March/April this year....

So you mean we have to expect in the future seasonal classic flaps like the graffiti/multicoloured one that will come for the Spring/Summer season? Also the boys? or will at least the boys come in "classic" one-coloured ways?

I dont want multicoloured bags, I want simply one coloured bags...

And will the WOC disontinued for sure or will there be a new style established like I already read here?

First the manager never gave a date on price increase. All she said was that it was going to impact the classics's autumn line. She said even she doesn't know what that means. Pre autumn is in May and regular autumn shipments are in June. So we surmised around May or June. Only the classic Flaps in classic colors will be on hold....via production. I think they will be made through this year and then that's it.

It takes two months to make a Jumbo double flap...so she told me.

ok, so this probably means that the production of the black and beige clair will be reduced, but there will be still seasonal colours for the classic flaps... we'll see in the future how this all ends ;) still curious about the future of WOC, GST, etc...
