Chanel Price Increase *please include location*

Hi ladies,

I just saw a Chanel cruise list posted up recently and saw that the old medium is going to be 4700?
I wanted to get myself a black calf old medium bag. Sigh

Seriously??? Wow!! I hope they line them in leather from now on if the price is nearly comparable to a classic flap or reissue style....

They are off their rockers over at Chanel hq . I would like to know why there is an increase again? Obvi they are trying to be in line with hermes but I think the way they are doing it is very tacky. They are either taking advantAge or there is something seriously wrong over there at hq. To my knowledge Chanel bags are not 100% handmade so what's the deal?

I agree. I hope the 2015 Cruise Collection is lined in leather. I had to get myself a classic before I got the boy. But Tutu mentioned that classics are always more than the boys so I guess another increase in classics?

I can't get one right away so I am going to have to suck it up and buy when the cruise collection is out.

I think they like to make people panic and buy. I just thought okay I don't want to force myself to buy something I don't want now and cant really justify buying now just because they are increasing the prices but I agree that it is insane that they just had an increase in May and its happening again. I may just buy during cruise collection and just stop there. I might as well start putting my name on a list for Hermes

Isn't that such a terrible tactic? I mean it's a luxury goods co and there is no sense to why they are doing so frequently. Let's face it I can't imagine ppl buying up the Paris Dallas collection. It was not one of their best. With Hermes the price increases are more justified and usually their CEO comes out and makes a statement of some sort. With Chanel it's just "because they can"and the quality is not always there or consistent. It's turning me off a bit bc it's becoming too nouveau riche, too in ure face. It's sad bc I really do love Chanel too.

Im not sure about LV and Dior price increase but I know I bought a the Speedy 30 a few years back in Hawaii and I saw the price recently and its only increased by 200-300?

Chanel is like 500 soon to be 1000 probably this year alone I cringe.

I agree. Its like all of a sudden. I love Chanel too but I honestly think after I buy my boy bag that's it. If it keeps going up like this so quickly. I'm probably going to purchase black as it is always timeless and worn at all seasons.

Yes LV and Dior do twice yearly increases. I recently read that LV actually owns Dior as well. All these price increases take the fun out of buying.

I think some resellers are marking up the prices of used bags to the price of new bags and most are several years old and not in pristine condition. I don't have a lot of Chanel only 2 and I will probably add 2 more items to my list this year then move on. It really is a marketing ploy and while the bags are beautiful I will look at other designers for quality and styles

I would really think that if they wanted to just probably find a better way to do it than a price increase every season it seems. Its like lets get what you need this year and move on. Kinda sad to say that though.

I had this thought too! It's so not fair!


I wanted to buy espadrilles but they are 525. To think that they were only 395 when they came out just a couple years ago.. It's preventing me from buying them!
