Ladies, I have recently been told that apparently there is a "bag count" limit in place in the UK. I knew that that was a thing at Heathrow, but apparently in London stores as well?!? And one can not buy "more than one bag every two months", which is ridiculous IMO.

When I was purchasing my latest classic flap earlier this month, SA told me she needed a special permission from her manager to approve this purchase because I have already bought another flap (in another London store) in the same month.
And now I want to purchase yet another bag early Oct, so I'm concerned that I will not be allowed to do so... :confused1:

Does anybody here have any info if there is a way to bypass this rule? I'm buying bags for myself only.
I hope this isn’t true as I want to purchase my first Le Boy before the rumoured price increase. I purchased a small CF on Friday....

There is definitely a 1 bag every 2 months rule in the UK and this applies to UK and non-UK citizens. This has been in place since at least 2016 so its been a while. The only way around this is to use a family member to purchase the item but then the item goes under their name so won't be on your personal purchase history or the only other way is if you have a very well established relationship with an SA in which case they can ask their manager for special permission. The stores all share the same customer database so you can't get around it by shopping at different stores or even at concessions like Harrods or Selfridges. I have a very longstanding relationship with my SA in the UK and she's confirmed this. I once discussed it with her and she said that they put this in place to make it more fair for everyone shopping at Chanel so everyone gets somewhat equal access to bags. Unfortunately there were customers who travelled to the UK to take advantage of the tax refund - either buying many bags for themselves personally or buying popular bags to sell in their own country (where certain bags even classic flaps are hard to find) and making a profit on the VAT refund.

I didn't agree with the rule until I heard this and it makes sense I guess. The best things to do is to just shop with one SA and build a relationship. I have to say it works much better for me. I have bought many many bags over the years shopping in the different UK stores and usually having a not so good experience. I buy a lot less now but I always go to the same person and she goes out of her way to find me pretty much anything I'm looking for and the customer service is exceptional.

That’s a shame. I just bought my first Chanel bag recently and before that I bought an SLG from the same SA. I have his contact too so hopefully I won’t be denied purchasing another bag before another price increase.

I bought my first Chanel yesterday and the SA in store told me that this was the case as I was seriously (like a crazy lady) considering purchasing two. He said he would have to get special permission from his manager if I bought two. I decided not to get the Chanel 19 as I was after a small black and they only had the medium. But it was so unbelievably gorgeous.

Also, I went to the Chanel in Harrods and was super disappointed with their range and the SA was also pretty unhelpful. I wanted to look at the Chanel pearl shopping bag in black and even showed it to her from the website and she just starred at me with a blank face. I mean, c'mon?! Apparently they just get sent whatever stock whenever.

However, then went to the store on Sloane Street and it was excellent. The SA was helpful and the pearl shopping bag I wanted was right there on display and I loved it immediately.

The SA informed me yesterday that there is a £300 increase across the board in a week and half. Which REALLY made me want the Chanel 19. but I didn't. Conflicted about whether I should have now. . . . .
Where is your SA from? I asked my SA and he said he didn’t hear anything yet. Sometimes, I feel like they don’t want to tell us so we can purchase at a higher price.

Where in Harrods did you go? I went on the ground floor and the SA who helped me was friendly and helpful. He even asked if I was looking for anything else. I bought a bag and SLG from him.

I agree, the SA I met at Sloane St was lovely. He messaged me after a few days to say thank you for the purchase! Harrods is a bit hit & miss - I met one that turned me away just because I don't have the code of the item I was looking for (I have a photo though). She didn't even check the system/stock room. I met 2 other SAs and they were ok. I am glad you found what you love!

Yeah I was on the ground floor too. The Harrods SA was ok, but not as helpful as she could have been for sure. Re: price increase I don't know what they are supposed to or not supposed to say but he was super helpful and took my number to see if the 19 I want comes in her would give me a call. I also bought some chanel earrings from Harrods and the Sa in the other store made me wish I bought them from there instead! A good SA really matters in these instances.
