How many tiers are there? How do you even know you've spent enough to made it to the lowest tier?

I think only VIP onwards get special deliveries. I get their catalogue every season and they sent me their perfume to my house for the 100 years anniversary before the Chanel factory started. Unfortunately I don’t spend enough to be VIC cos I cannot bring myself to buy a piece of RTW at SGD10k
VIC get early access to sale and their pick of the hot bags of the season. If I am not mistaken, if they do not want the bags, then the SA will contact their customers to see if anyone else wants it. That’s why relationships with SA is very important, even if you are not VIP you can have a chance at it as long as they like you 
only thing is most SA go by VIC then VIP because these are sure spenders season after season. If your SA tells you no appointment for the first few days of new launch, likely you are below VIP. But of Cos if you are someone with potential to be a returning customer, they will also take good care of you. At some point, their VIC and VIP must have all gotten the bags that newer customer wants so if you are lucky you can just get it from the right SA. One example I can think of is mini rectangle. So true... If you see it, you like it, buy it! That's my mantra. And it doesn't encourage overspending because many things are hard to "see" in the first place!

I've never thought of spending on RTW cos my work doesn't even require me to go to the office or meet clients face-to-face at all (I wfh for the last 5 years). Thought their jackets look great, SG weather isn't. Haha!
Thanks for sharing @MissyHimeko ! The world of Chanel is very mysterious... to me! But it does make sense... that the popular stuff is reserved for the VIC first. After all, they do spend a lot. If I dropped that kind of dough in Chanel, I'd expect to get special treatment too. Very normal. Unfortunately, LiHo has no such thing in place... pity, coz I would be a VVVVIP!

I wish I could tell you but unfortunately I can’t :/ I buy quite regularly (like every season) because I genuinely love their other stuff like shoes and accessories (sunnies, bandeau, costume jewelry) so I have no idea when I went from just a lonely P to vip hahah.
yes! I agree their RTW jackets are gorg but the price just makes me gag. I can’t drop dough on that… my hands physically doesn’t want to go into my wallet to do it and will likely slap myself instead

I do understand the classification and I don’t blame them for it. Personally if I don’t get a bag I requested for, I take it in my stride. I mean it’s not the end of the world, the next bag is just around the corner Hahah, yes they will never tell you! We all know there has always been tiers and classifications but it’s never clear so all they do is encourage you to spend and spend. I’m guessing that’s how the “purchase with purchase” like in Hermés started and some people apparently met this in Chanel too. (Of cos, depends on luck and SA too.) I never did a purchase with purchase before even when I was very new to Chanel, I was lucky with my SA who has been very nice and try to get me what I want even if it might take a while.

So I popped into NAC yesterday to try my luck coz this season's burgundy is really driving me coco! (get it? hahaha!) Was deliberating between these 2 - a pearl crush WOC ($49xx) and a seasonal "flap" type of bag ($67xx??? ball-park figure... can't remember). The WOC was really beautiful. Soft and luxurious lambskin and the pearl crush was soooo cute. The other seasonal flap is cute too. The leather is a glazed calf and has the "diana flap" vibes. I asked for mini square/rectangle and was gently told by my SA that those are very hard to get. But the shade of burgundy... omg... BEAUTIFUL and INTENSE. Lovely FW colour.
I asked about SLGs too. Saw 3 mini o-cases (black caviar), some card cases (boy & classic design, caviar)... lots of black pieces... zero burgundy pieces. Didn't buy anything in the end.
