I just got back from Italy, and had a quite good experience shopping at Chanel in Milan. After reading this thread I was full on freaking out that they would not have the bag i wanted in stock, the SAs would be mean; I have never shopped at a Chanel boutique before... blah blah blah
Based on all the recommendations in this thread I tried my hardest to look presentable, but as expected I totally failed; since I literally got off the plane after total of nearly 17 hours flight and transit, I did change my clothes, but it was cold so I had a cozy fluffy jacket on any way; my hair was probably greasy; I did not have one designer thing hang on my body, plus i have a Long champ bag with me that held a ton of my travel stuff. I walked in the store quite nervous, but everyone there was so nice that i got comfortable. I asked to see the mini and the small boy bag; they are well stocked there; they have the square mini in many colors (but not the rectangular mini as expected); they have the newest Boy bag which was stunning but unfortunately in lamb and the strap was too long for me (with the mini the SA showed me how to "shorten" the strap). My SA also brought out other bags that i might like. I ended up bought a square mini in black, not remembering the name though it was slightly more expensive than the regular square mini, priced at 2580 euros I think it was in the Fall/winter collection, IN CARVIAR LEATHER which i was soon happy about since clumsy me wouldn't be able to deal with lamb skin.
My husband and I was offer drink after I said I would take the bag. Then I asked to see more card cases and wallet but nothing "spoke to me".
The only thing is that my SA didn't speak good English, but she tried really hard to understand me and when she couldn't she even asked someone else to translate. She had to leave early before my transaction was done, which i didn't get, since it was about 11 AM. The guy who was handling my payment was a little rude, he got annoyed when i got too excited and kept giving him the wrong amount of cash.
In the end I was very happy with my purchase, and if i had a little more time I would have checked out the WOC, but i couldnt go to the store in florence and Rome; plus i wasn't in love with the colors of the WOC in this latest collection any way; so I ended up spent my money on a
prada galleria bag.
My tips would be knowing exactly what you want, but be open minded, be easy going and don't get irritated when they don't understand you or don't have exactly what you want. Some mentioned Chanel in Italy has racist staffs that discriminate Chinese, but i'm not Chinese but I'm Asian and didn't have to deal with discrimination at all; there was a chinese lady in the store she was buying 3-4 Chanel bags I'm sure she wasn't being discriminated. Oh and I got to the store really early at about 10-10h30 so I didn't have to wait to be serviced at all.
I hope telling my experience help some of you
