I live 5 hours away so I would need to mail it back which makes me nervous. I am also afraid that if they mail me a new one, it will have a different flaw...maybe I need to post a pic here when I get home. Very small scratch and it’s not very noticeable but I can see it. I am just hoping it will eventually blend in and become less noticeable. I wish I live closer to Chanel or at least have better luck with finding a new bag in perfect condition.
You can’t see the scratch if you just look at it like the second picture but you can see it in the first pic where I circled it. My husband says he can’t see it so I should keep it and have Chanel refurbish the bag within 5 years...

Thank you for the pictures! I honestly don’t see the brown . I think this is such a lovely red and I love the champagne hardware as well. I do not like the new 20B red, it looks very dull to me. I can definitely see the brown in the 20B. I now want the 20S in small size so badly but it’s sold out in the US ))): (I saw the 20S in small size when I was in Paris at the end of February. At the time, I thought I wanted a caviar bag but I have now changed my mind. Lambskin is sooo gorgeous. Lambskin bags are a lot more perfectly structured vs caviar. I like that as I’m pretty OCD)

You really have a lovely bag! I hope you will come to not mind the 5% brown that you see as I think your red is perfect!
I’m in the same boat as you! I wanted the small 20s in lambskin but there’s none available  . Then I opted for the medium size..

I see what you're saying - hard to get an exact feel of how noticeable the scratch is in real life but if it doesn't bother you too much, I guess you can try to buff it out and see if it gets any better or perhaps calling the chanel store you got it from and tell them the flaw in your current bag and ask if they can source another one? You do have customer rights to get the best product with 0 flaws especially when you're paying so much $$ too. But i understand not living near a Chanel store is also hard :(

Thank you for your thoughts! It bothers me one day and then it doesn’t the next day. Not sure what to do. It is definitely too expensive to not be perfect! I do feel like it’s minor and if it will get better with use and maybe with some conditioner, then it should be fine. I am sure I’ll scratch it myself once I wear it a few times. And then I get worried again thinking that the leather will wear out more quickly later where the scratch is. If lived close to the store, I would definitely try to exchange it. I have 30 days to decide so we will see...

Recently had a similar issue with my new black mini rectangle. It had a slight dent in one of the front quilts. I took it back to the boutique and my SA used meltonian delicate cream on it and it actually helped a little bit. I might try that. Also- as you said, it is bound to get small scuffs once you start using it. This recently happened to me and I care about the original (very small) dent much less now.
