Sounds weird. Never heard of this happening before. Did she buy it directly from a Chanel boutique? If so, I would go back and show them. Could be a return/scam where the person returned a counterfeit pair.
Finally got my hands on these. Bought them yesterday and wore them right away. I wore them again today. This photo taken after two uses. I actually love these more than the leather ones. It's more carefree. I don't have to worry about the leather getting dirty and wrinkled.

Yes I have 2 leather- black and beige/black -the classics! And two fabric pairs I got on sale. I would have just stuck to two leather pairs because they go with everything but I couldn't pass up sale espys!
Luckily, I got one pair of pearl logo espedrilles in suede calfskin from Kyoto Takashimaya department store in early August.
They are beautiful and super comfy!!! I'm a true US 6 and I wear size 36 for this collection, a bit tight though. However, 37 is too big for me. They fell down when I walked. Compared to patent leather ones, which I also wear 36, suede calfskin ones are softer and more comfortable to walk! The following are the photos.
The other patent leather one I have.
When I wear patent leather ones, the leather presses my left big toe while walking and I dont have this problem with suede calfskin ones. Overall, I think they will be perfect for me if they have size in 36.5.
If you are like me in between sizes, I will not recommend patent leather ones because they are stiff. Though I'm okay to wear them out for a meal. Sadly, a size up will be too big... Hope this will help tpfers who are interested in these beautiful shoes.

Guilty! lol. In fact, I own 2 pairs of the leather Beige w/ Black toe cap and one pair of the leather Navy Blues. Thinking of adding a suede pair but I'm trying to hold off.
