Those don't look right to me - either do the tortoise voguest ones. I've never seen a tort pair (frame color and lens color) like the one on ebay or on voguest at a licensed retailer (barneys, Nordies, boutiques in NYC). The frame color and pattern look different - and also never seen with a brown lens. I was going to purchase a pair for a friend - but changed my mind once I saw them. I'm over cautious though when it comes to these sort of things though.
its a new model audrey. from celine store nyc

just to calm everyone's nerves ...

i work in the fashion industry and a do have a little intel on this ... first of all, not one fashion house does their sunglasses in house. 100% of those are licensed through major companies like Safilo, luxottica, De Rigo, etc.

Celine's sunglasses used to be licensed through De Rigo - an italian optical licensing company that also does sunglasses for bulgari / bluemarine / chopard, etc. In November 2011, Celine left De Rigo due to their subpar production, and signed onto Safilo Group, an LVMH owned licensing company that does eyewear for Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Bottega, Gucci, etc. All of Celine's eyewear landing in stores starting January 2012 would be coming from Safillo and not De Rigo.

you will definitely see a difference in quality - BETTER quality. De Rigo is notorious in producing subpar quality, and i did see this in Celine sunglasses in 2011 - the arms had always been wonky and uneven (when you rest the sunglasses on the table, you'd see one arm raised in mid air), the acrylic frames were always minorly scratched up here and there even when freshly unwrapped from plastic wrapping. sometimes, one of the arms would open up wider than the other arm. the worst is that each pair fitted differently.

due to switching to a new licensing company, there are definitely going to be minor color / production changes - such as a diff. tort pattern, diff. lens color, different metal pin inside the arms, etc. this does not mean that the sunglasses are not authentic, but rather they have switched to a different manufacturer that may provide slightly different options for Celine to select from.

these things happen all the time with fashion companies and with myself working in a similar fashion environment, professionally speaking, they do understand the chances that meticulous customers like you all will notice minor differences, but does hope that in the long run the quality can surpass the worry that this can initially raise.

Thanks for taking the time to share that with us. Valuable information! I think of myself as an observant and informed consumer (as I'm sure many of us here do), and I appreciate hearing the reasoning behind some of the changes I notice.

ITA - I am sad though that they changed the tortoise version so much. With the black I'm sure any changes would be much less noticeable - but the new tort audrey looks really different to me. I wish they had kept it the same. Oh well I guess these things are bound to happen when you partner with a new company to produce your glasses.

What strikes me are the temple tips (the part that goes behind the ears). The glasses I got from Voguest have only a short stick in the temple tips (see picture above in last post) - the picture which I found from the internet of authentic 1751 show a long stick inside the temple stick.

Hmmmmm!

Yes - I have many pairs of this model (purchased last year from boutique) and mine have the longer stick on the temple. The lenses on the voguest ones are slightly different too.

Hello Fans of Celine sunglasses,

Just about half a month ago, I ordered the CELINE LARGE AUDREY SC 1755 Black for Voguest.com. The sunglasses came with one half-moon white hard case, one white carton and one authentic card by USPS.
The quality is very good. I compare the sunglasses with the one of my sister. They are definitely authentic. :D
I am so excited that I made the risk of ordering the black LARGE AUDREY from Voguest. Because the black one is sold out NOW.

Really love them!!

a little reading material for those who are interested in fashion industry news...

thanks *F for the explanation: i think this is also the reason why these sunglasses are easier to find now(here in italy!) safilo group is very famous here :numerous fashion houses rely on Safilo Group (gucci, bottega veneta, balenciaga sunglasses to name a few) , i am not surprised to see an increase in the quality of celine sunglasses then....

Thank you to whoever posted the Nordstrom Rack info! I went today and picked up a white pair of small Audreys (at least I think they are, 1751). I have a couple of white sunnies and I wanted the large size, but surprisingly these looked good on my face. I wish they were tortise or black, but white is fun and they were only $89.00.

Congrats! That's such a steal! I believe the style you got is the cat eye. Care to share any mod pics? Also did you see other styles?

I will post pics tomorrow when I get home, I'm at BF's tonight and left them at my place. I am not sure if they are the cat eyes. Is that what 1751 stands for? The inky others are say we're roundish red ones. I didn't like them as much.

iPhone autocorrect! Meant to say the other ones were red round glasses.
