My SA from whom I purchased many pairs last year told me Nordies wasn't carrying Celine sunglasses this season because they didn't sell well last year and they ended up putting them on deep discount at the end of the year.

Yeah I heard. Bloomingdale's did the same thing and they said it's because Celine is changing manufacturers (to a cheap one) and they don't know if they still want to carry it because of that reason.

I was lucky to score a pair of Audrey 1747's at Bloomingdale's over the weekend for $130. Problem is, I'm not in love with the color I got. They are like a light yellowish green, color: 0T93. I really want the olive colored ones: 0T92, but Bloomingdale's everywhere has now removed the glasses from their system as they have been sent back to the Celine company.

Here is the color I got. It's nicer in person, but I still would have never picked it at full price. I feel it's wishy-washy. Neither green nor yellow. It was the last one left at Bloomingdales and throughout the entire company. I got it for $130 down from $340. It was just too good a deal to pass up, but I would have preferred another color :shucks:

I heard that too - about Celine now working with a different company to produce their glasses. It's one of the reason I purchased my classics now - I knew I'd want them eventually, and wanted to buy why they were still being made by Celine and before the optical line was turned over to someone else. Might be an over reaction - but I'm picky.

Im picky too. The sunglass manager at a Bloomies near me was explaining how the Celine sunglass brand is going to be made so cheaply now. This new manufacturer they are using is no longer going to be in Italy and he kindly said to me that it's best to never buy certain brands for glasses. I was surprised when he mentioned Chanel and Prada etc. He said that RayBans, which is what I have been wearing now for years, is made with so much higher quality materials than Chanel and other brands like that. He said Celine quality was top-notch all this time, but now it no longer will be in that category, yet the prices will still be steep. No good :nono:

^^ Then I'm even more glad I purchased my classics before this happened since I really do love them (along with my xl Audrey's and cat eye ones). When they went on sale in December I had my SA pretty much purchase any pair that was left for me since they were only 120. dollars or so - less then Ray bans!

I might be wrong - but I heard that Chanel was made by Luxxotica - the same company that makes ray bans and essentially the lenses are exactly the same. You're really only paying for the Chanel name (in terms of lens quality etc) with Chanel since Luxxotica purchased them. Sounds like the same situation as the before and after Celine glasses. I have Chanel glasses and I have to say the frame material is no where NEAR as nice as my Celine pairs (and I have a lot of them...)

I wonder when the new production will start on these 2012 Celine's though? Are the new season of Audrey glasses still being made by Celine, or have they already been turned over to the other company?

Darnit! I was hoping to get a classic pair, but haven't been able to try them on yet! This is horrible news!! I wish I wasn't so late to these!!!!!:push:

Is there store in Chicago that carries Celine eyewear? If not you could order from somewhere that accepts returns in case you don't like them. I adore mine. They're very chunky and classic looking. Worth it to snag a pair before they are produced somewhere else.

Here is a quick modeling shot of me in the Audrey shades. What do you think about the color? Does it work with my skin tone? Of course this was just taken now at night in my room with flash so the color of the sunglasses may be a tad off...

They still sell them at Neimans and Saks! They are just full price there, but they do have stock of the original versions :smile1: However, they told me that what you see is all they have. No back stock. So I assume when they sell out, the new ones that come in wont be as good of quality.

^^so sad to hear about the change in Celine glasses manufacturers!

i had heard the same in the past about Chanel, when i purchased sunnies from the Optical Shop of Aspen, they told me their favs were Chrome Hearts and to stick with Chanel in handbags and RTW haha...not glasses/sunglasses

Good bargain ! I love the shade and especially the frame color. I'd better check out bloomingdales tomorrow ;)

Thank you! Yes you should check them out because some Bloomies may still have stock of other styles. I believe the Audrey is all gone now though because I was trying to hunt down the dark olive green or brown ones with no luck

Thanks guys! I am going to check with Saks, Nordies and Bloomies and see if they have any stock in the Chicago area. Barneys probably carries them as well?
