Love this idea! Yet another thing of yours that I'll be bringing up to my fiance haha :graucho:. Personally, I am obsessed with the ballon bleu and think it's gorg, but definitely think you're right about getting him what he wants! Did you see the thread about getting Cartier discounts on watches? I just found it last night, very informative!! Can't wait to see what you pick out!

I've already been married for almost 15 years and hubby asked me if I wanted a Ladies Presidental Rolex or a gold Cartier watch for our upcoming anniversary. I honestly don't know which one to pick. I already have an old (but gorgeous) Cartier that I've had since I graduated from college and I LOVE it, but it's been thru a lot. I'm afraid the gold will be too over the top for me and I have a super tiny wrist.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Many Thanks!
As far as what to pick...let him make the choice. Men love to lead and it'll make him feel extra important and special that you love/trust him enough to make the choice for you both. Good Luck!

Haha I just had this debate with my bf. I told him we are a big Cartier family and o want to get us matching tanks or Santos for our wedding... But when his parents got married his dad gave his mom a rolex and so he has sentimental attachments to rolexs! And I've been falling for the datejust too.

After all it came down to it, the conclusion was that a watch isn't the best option because I'd probably never wear it! And the chances of m smashing the face in while falling ok my face somewhere is pretty high. So no watches! The bf is also working in a field where the watch would be damaged and so it's not practical for either of us. We said maybe for an anniversary down the road when we are getting closer to retirement. But the love bracelet is something I've wanted since high school. Much more durable and it locks it. Ive always had a bracelet on my left hand that was gold so I know I don't mind it being locked. And I wot have to worry about it!

I think whatever way you go you will love it! If I wasn't such a clutz id probably go with the rolex though personally.

I would go for the watch (Rolex) now and the Love Bracelet maybe for your 1 year wedding anniversary?

This way, you have 1 thing Rolex (matching with your fiance) and something Cartier a year from your wedding!

hm...are you a watch person though? If you are then it'll be cute to get matching watches :) I'm not a watch person at all so I can't recommend which one is the better one to go for lol. I'm actually planning to get my bf the love ring as his wedding band (it's a long story but the love ring has always had a special meaning to us) and get myself the matching bracelet hehehe.

whoops - I think the love bracelet would be perfect for you! You've wanted one for so long, I hope you end up getting it =) I actually tried on the Love bracelet and was not so enamoured with it as I thought I would be. It was slightly uncomfortable and very stiff (I am not a bangle type person). So I may hold off on the Love bracelet.

missD and dialv - and I think your suggestions are a great idea! That way I get something from both brands! I also think my bf would prefer the Rolex more but after some more shopping and looking, I THINK we have decided on the Cartier Balloon Bleu. The only reason is because we can engrave them on the back. . .I was thinking of putting our wedding date on it. We don't have such an option with Rolex.

However, there is still 1.5 years until the wedding, so I have still quite a bit of time to ponder it! :D

You can't go wrong with the Rolex or Cartier BB! Did one look any better than the other with your Sola?? p.s. You mean FIANCE, not bf! hehe ;)

BLAH, I keep forgetting he's my FIANCE now! LOL. I always have to say it with an emphasis in hopes that it'll stick in my brain . .

I agree with you Tasha and skyqueen - I have actually tried both watches on and originally, I wanted the two-tone BB but it didn't go as well as the all stainless steel one. The rolex. . .I remember I tried it on with my ring but I can't remember how the two looked together! :shrugs: If anything, I can always wear my watch on my right wrist if the two don't match haha.

This sounds weird but so far, I REALLY like the way it looks with my white ceramic and yg MK watch! LOL

Really old thread, but I like closure so I wanted to update everyone that we decided to go the Love bracelet route for me (as everyone by now probably knows) and I decided to get DF a watch from Rolex. He originally wanted the DateJust II but after he heard his idol, Jay-Z, bought his engineer for his latest Watch the Throne album a GMT Master II, that's all he could think and talk about. Since he's been so sweet and the most loving and caring man I could ask for, I had to give him what he wants and truly deserves. So here's his GMT II :love: :

Sorry for the bad pic - you can see the reflection of my phone on the watch face and the bezel protector is still on, so it looks a little funny.

I know, I know, it's his watch! But I couldn't resist! It's a 40 mm watch and is really heavy. I think it looks much too big on me, but for those ladies who love big men's watches, this is a nice one ;).

I'm going to surprise him tonight and give it to him. I hope he loves it! And I know, our wedding isn't for another year, but why let such a beauty languish away in my closet for 16 months (plus I got mine early so he should get his early too!)???
