Thank for insights about VCA, they may go to the same Richemont center in USA too. My Cartier watch repair took over 8 months, but watch went to Switzerland from USA and back.
I'll just do in USA then. I need the stone replacement (you know conic onyx in Menotte ring), I'll be ready to wait for months then.
Oh yes, unfortunately stone replacement seems to be the longest wait time. I absolutely love that ring though!!

I am freaking out. The hinge on my regular JUC bracelet became bent out of shape. They’re quoting me over $4000 to repair it and “reproduce” it!! I’m utterly shocked!! I’ve purchased 6 pieces from Cartier over the years. I’m going to reach out to my SA, who I purchased all my pieces from. Any help?!

I'm not sure how anyone here could help... what happened to it?

Try not to panic. Definitely reach out to your sales associate. A similar thing happened to my JUC and they replaced it free of charge.

Thank you! I have such an extensive purchase history only with this store (Short Hills) and SA. The hinge would not stay closed and would pop off randomly. My SA is acting meek right now. I’m furious.

Ask her to get repair go through her supervisor. I love how SAs are good in swiping customers cards but when it comes to providing a service they are like "why are doing this to me?". That $4K was ridic. Instead of re-connecting it (soldering) they need to "reproduce" it? Right. I had a Pasha watch "repaired" in Cartier repair center, I sent it for a battery replacement only, it was working until battery died off. They quoted $3684 with a need to "reproduce" 1/4 of the watch. OK, I paid. They did a sloppy job on top of that, replaced a prefect crown with a crooked one with uneven bezel around sapphire, put watch strap upside down, didn't adjust length as I specifically required. Given my experience, I would "repair" it now with a reputable dealer.

I am not a Cartier gal (just have the cord bracelet) but I stumbled upon this thread and honestly, the repair price for your watch was nuts! And then they screwed up on just about everything else? A battery replacement should cost pretty much nothing on such an expensive watch--it should be a "service", imo. Does Cartier insist on doing an entire "tune-up" on any watch repair, I wonder? I know Rolex does.

Exactly. I was like how I need so much work since watch was running fine before the battery died, and all complications like alarm, moonphase, calendar were working? Cartier - blah, blah, historic watch restoration has flat rate, plus we will replace everything unnecessarily. I thought, maybe it will be a masterpiece in like new condition after that. I paid. And I received that after 8 months of waiting. Never again. My watch dealer was like, we could do only necessary things (including overhaul) way cheaper and faster.

When my Rolex needed its 5-yr "tune up", I sent it back to the place I purchased it from--an excellent reliable Rolex reseller. What a set of instructions they sent me first--"go to UPS and get 2 blah blah size envelopes and a blah blah size box and get bubble wrap and wrap the bracelet this way and tape this label on it and then put it in envelope #1 and then tape another label on it and then put it in envelope #2 and tape another label on THAT envelope and then put it in the box ..." the instructions were very detailed and long but the watch got there next morning and I had it back in something like 10 days, and this was for an entire tune up, but I had nothing broken to fix (did get another link added).

Your watch has more mechanicals involved with moon phase, etc. but still that was an outrageous amount of money, imo. But putting the band on wrong? Not acceptable!

I feel lucky that I found a great place to purchase & service my watch (did tons of research first); one of the authorized Rolex dealers close to me got busted a while back because the SAs were purchasing all the Rolexes when the shipments arrived and jacking up the prices and selling them privately--I would never leave my watch with them.

At the end of the day you got your lovely watch back safe and sound!

Great to hear about your Rolex! As for my Cartier watch I sold it right away at a loss, it was no longer "lovely" to me with uneven bezel on formerly beautiful crown. I can't stand such a sloppy job.

See this really bums me out. Even if I do have this piece repaired at the atrocious fee they are requesting, it could come back with the same defect... an unreliable hinge and lock mechanism. I am really disappointed with Short Hills response to this repair. They are not valuing a 13 year relationship and over $50,000 worth of purchase history, by not standing by the reliability of their product. I am absolutely shocked it took several days for an assistant manager to communicate with the "workshop" located <20 miles away from the store and give me a call about the matter. He offered me no solutions at all. Pay the price. And to think I was going to purchase a $40,000 piece for my 40th birthday there in 6 months!

I am so glad I never purchased a watch from them. The crystal on my Rolex watch cracked, and they provided me with a reasonable repair cost. Done. Cartier is beyond greedy! I am most outraged with the variety of repair solutions on this forum. "Your results may vary." BUYER BEWARE!

What a pain. Especially you are such a wonderful loyal customer. I wonder is it the same workshop they repair everything including shipped to them?

I'm sorry that I went into such detail with my watch tune up (my bad) but I was just appalled at what Cartier did to your lovely and expensive watch AND charged such a high price. And now you don't have it anymore--Cartier "ugly-ed" it and their relationship with a good customer and didn't seem to care. Sad.

Yes, but their solution is to "send it to France" and I can pay VAT taxes on top of it all. For $4,000 they will "remove all my diamonds, resmolder gold into a mold, and then set the diamonds again". For such a "mangled piece", you would think it would be crushed and in shambles. I'll have to wait minimum of 5 months for the repair on top of it all. I am requesting now to speak with the Store and Regional SMs. I will in the meantime, take it up with AMEX for my own protection, since I was given absolutely no courtesy or acknowledgment of my absolute loyalty to this store and this particular SA for 13 years! I'd have better treatment at Zales. I am furious.

Not at all, thank you for sharing. It's always good to know experience with Cartier repair vs other luxury brands.
