I was told it's roughly a 30 % markup but it might have been increased since. Maybe you might consider buying a regular Love and go to a goldsmith who can do the job for you aftermarket. Once I did some research and found the gems to be a few 100 USD all together ... plus the labor of course. Okay, it's not original any longer but you also could chose the gems; e.g. all rubins or blue sapphires.

(Interestingly my SO Cintrée didn't have any markup to the regular price)

Yes, you can special order it, but the special order markup is very high, it will be almost double the normal resale price. If you ask your SA, they can do it for you. My last SO (for a different item) was in the Spring and the production time was 10 months + August and about 150% of equivalent retail price.

Hmmm… I wouldn’t be interested in reselling it so the upcharge may not be so bad. I think the wait time would be more painful 😆

Yes, I was really surprised. My previous SOs were only about 30%, but now they jumped up. This is USA, but I don’t think it makes a difference. At first I thought maybe I had just asked for a difficult combination, so I requested several different permutations, and they were all exponentially higher than my previous special orders.

It would be tempting to try to work with a goldsmith but I feel like the piece wouldn’t have the same essence as having it done by Cartier.

As painful as a markup would be, having it be unadulterated would be ideal for me.

I had similar experiences.
I was at Cartier boutique in Chicago and my SA said that they cannot reproduce rainbow love bracelet anymore as that one was been discontinued a long time ago. Not even a special order is possible at this time. The only thing they offer as for reproducing is the re-sizing of the love bracelet for 60% of the current price. I asked how much they charge for the rainbow love bracelet for resizing since it's been discontinued and I bought this 8 or 9 years ago for over 7k . The price is based on 10 diamond rose gold bracelet current price is $17,100 less 60% is 10,260 tax not included and it's 6- 8 months of wait time.

I went back in my messages, and I have to agree with you. A year or so ago, they were willing to do a special order for the rainbow, but as of April this year these are the guidelines I received:

According to Cartier Guidelines, production of love bracelets can be only be done with diamond, sapphire, ruby or emerald. No mix of those 4 stones types are permitted on the same piece. No other stones are possible. The stones must be all the color, because anything else is considered rainbow and they will not do this either.

Of course, for VVIP clients, some exceptions may be possibly be made, but this is the official current policy.

You know what, it doesn’t hurt to ask. I’m sure at some point in the future they will modify their guidelines again.
Yep or pre loved you can always have it polish and change the screws and it be look like brand new. If you knew someone that live in Japan I saw maybe 4 rainbow love bracelets in some pre loved store around Tokyo area ( 2 in Ginza, 1 in Shinjuko and in Roponggi Hills area) and with ¥ to $ exchange rate it's way cheaper. The price was just around $8k or less than that with 0 tax. ( I was just there last July btw)
