I wonder if it's to do with their store's insurance? Maybe their insurance only covers "their" merchandise, and once an item has been sold, it is the property of the customer with different coverage rules? I don't work in insurance so this is just a theory...

No retail store would hold an item for lengths of time, even if paid in full. It becomes a liability for the store. They are not a storage facility. What happened in Singapore is not anywhere near the norm and I’m shocked they accommodated such a scenario. If she ordered and paid for the bracelet in full but the actual item didn’t arrive until months later, that’s another story.Looks nonsense to me. As soon as you pay in full it's not Cartier's business anymore. If they are not customer-friendly enough to hold that as long as you wish chose another boutique. Maybe the'll start to charge rent

Just sharing my experience. As I did not ask, meaning the SA told me after paying, it seems very legit to me! They struggled with the system yesterday evening in the Munich store, several people tried to make it work- could be ( I suppose) that the person who fixed it finally was not a SA more like the head of SAs-who told me that. This I don‘t know. I believe it 100%!

I went in to the Sydney boutique today to buy the Baby Love necklace in YG (B7212400) and they were quite coy when I asked about the May price increase. They either didn't know about it or knew that it was coming but didn't know when. I've seen people queuing up in front of the store on normal weekends, let alone the weekend before the price increase and I definitely don't want to deal with that craziness. When the SA told me that the necklace was the last one they had in stock, I knew it was a sign to get it then and there.
Based on the crowds lining up every weekend in front of the store, I wouldn't be surprised if Australia is also affected by the May 1 price increase of 5%. Queuing up in front of luxury stores in general on a Saturday seems to be a common occurrence here in Sydney.

Hi there! Has anyone heard of an upcoming US price increase? The most recent posts seem to be about other countries. Reason I ask is b/c I was in one of the NYC boutiques and the SA said there will be a price increase in March sometime. I just want to make sure it wasn't said to me to try to pressure me to buy the piece (even though I'm sure eventually there will be one). lol. 
I've done this before and from what I remember, you have to pay the full price to secure the item as an order if stock runs out at your local boutique but you want to pay the old price.
Actually you have to put a 50% deposit down to lock in on the price. I do not know how long you until you have to pay for the full price.
