^I might be wrong, I think lanasyogamama is correct, the OP said to walk forward like Frankenstein. I know it was one of them (maybe it was two posters in the same thread that said different things?) is right though! :smile1: I'll try to see if I can find the thread...

ETA: I found a thread similar to this one from 2008 http://forum.purseblog.com/the-jewelry-box/cartier-love-bracelet-and-airport-security-243834.html searching for the other thread though! :p

Ok I can't find it, but I swear it's here somewhere! It might be an old thread that was archived or something which is why I can't find it, but I know I read that one of these tricks should work.

Thank you so much! I'll plan ahead for time and try both of these, one on my next departure flight and one on my return. Maybe the airport makes the difference? JFK might be more sensitive?

My does beep and it just depends on the guard at the moment if he decides to give you a hard time. What i would suggest is just taking everything off before you go through...very incovenient! but i wouldnt want to hold up my family..

I have worn mine for 13 years and yes it beeps but I always just say sorry bit doesn't come off.. My husband took off months ago and still hasn't put it on... I never take mine off..

I've worn my love bracelet for about 13 years and they've never made me take it off for airport security. Mine is 18K yellow gold. The bracelet has beeped before but like bagsfor me said, i told TSA it doesn't come off and they let me right through.

Don't let airport security stop you from buying a gorgeous piece of jewelry!
I agree and this was what happened to me too. I told the custom officer that it doesn't come off. I figured they must have seen these types of bracelet a dozen time at least.

Hmmm, bangle size. Mine is a 17 in YG.
I'd never chance it if it were just me traveling with my children or alone (I'd hate to be locked away again in the glass box while my carry-on bags were left on the belt!)

BTW, my TSA agent had seen these before and was fine with the fact that it did not come off. He just was unwilling to believe, w/o the additional wand scan, that it was truly what was making the detector go off!
I guess I agree with him. I'd hate for someone to sneak something terrible in under the guise that it was, instead, one of these bracelets causing the alarm.

Yep. My bracelet set of the alarm off everytime. I took mine off months ago because I have been on a plane every week. So I just could not take it any more!! But I think the amount of gold does make the difference. Maybe the smaller sizes have less problems...:wondering

You go through a metal detector. Any kind of metal will make it go off. It just depends on how much metal you have on you if the detector will go off or not. I'd take off all metal except for your love bracelet.

^ duh, I should've done THAT!! I've never had any other trouble before and have gone through detectors with my Cartier Tank, diamond and platinum tennis bracelet, gold thin bangles, platinum and diamond pendant necklace, earrings and wedding rings -all worn together. Maybe If I remove all of that and just wear the Love bracelet, it will even out!

It also depends on what airport you are going through security. I live in Washington DC and the bracelet sets off the alarms at Reagan National and Dulles (mine is a size 17). I was told that if you have it on and go in the body scanner, the bracelet shows up as an abnormality and you get subjected to the grope-fest by TSA. I stopped wearing mine 2 years ago and bought a cuff. Its not as attractive but the hassle factor was too much. :nogood:

That's strange, I've had mine for four years and fly either domestic (within US) or internationally once a month for work and it rarely goes off. Maybe just a handful of times. I have a WG in size 16. I also don't take off any of my other jewelry and I wear rings on both hands, necklace, earrings, and watch.

Yeah, I wear my engagement ring, earrings, necklace and they are all white gold. I wonder what causes it. I fly a lot and I've never set it off. I've never had the TSA ticklefest yet and I'm hoping not too, so invasive!!

I'm wondering how easy it is to remove the bracelet? I'm thinking of getting one, but if it's difficult to remove, i might have to rethink that decision.

can my SO help me unscrew it or do I need to go to the store?

TIA!
