Cartier In Japan

@vivaciousbev1 - Every VCA location I went to in Tokyo was really out of stock. You also had to book appointments in advance. For Cartier, I looked at and purchased Clash pieces. I compared to US/EU prices and it was cheaper by $1-$1.5K and $5K for each piece. I still have a bunch of price quotes (with tax refund incl) for Clash pieces that the SA wrote down for me if you want. At this point, I would make a special trip to Japan if you wanna purchase expensive prices, bc the cost savings will offset your plane ticket, haha.

@sleepydoc. - I didn't get hit with any duty and taxes upon entry back. No one in my travel party got hit with them.
Can you message me the prices that the SA gave you? I would like to plan for our upcoming trip. Thank you!!

hoping to get a slim juc w/diamonds in japan soon, but not sure if i should buy at the airport for ease of tax refund or in japan proper? i’m worried it may not be in stock at the airport and by the time i get there it’ll be too late to pick one up from other stores. would love thoughts

Tax refund is quick and easy in Japan. You can get full tax refund in flagship stores. For boutiques in department stores, they have service charge for tax refund, but you can get discount card for tourists, usually 5% off, so just more or less the same.

i was there last summer and purchased my clash ring. My experience was in the boutique they had 2 price tags one with tax and one without. As long as you have your passport with you at the time of purchase you will not be charged the tax and no processing fees. Where as in Europe they will charge you first then refund you. They also asked if I wanted to be charged in USD or JPY and I chose JPY bc the exchange rate was so good last year and it is even better this year.

Can anyone please kindly recommend a SA at the Cartier store in Ginza (5 Chome-5-15 Ginza, Chuo City, Tokyo 104-0061, Japan)? I will be going to Japan in late August and would like to get couple pieces of jewelry. Ideally I'd like to be able to connect (via. email) with someone at the store to make sure they have the pieces (with my size) available when I get there.

Hello! I’m in Tokyo right now and just got the small Juste Un Clou bracelet! There was no line at all and the whole process took 30 minutes. If anyone is going to Tokyo in August I would not stress about lines or stock!

May I ask what your total cost was, deducting the VAT? My sister is heading to Japan next month from the US and wondering if I should ask her to pick up the small YG JUC.

For what it’s worth, I am there now and the prices aren’t really much lower than in the US. For example, the small clash necklace I was looking at was 405,000 JPY tax-free ($2,700 USD today) while in the US it’s $2,800 before tax. So you’re really just saving the tax. Its not nothing but the savings were much higher at VCA for example.

I shopped at Cartier in Japan late last year and bought a watch with pretty good savings so they must be pretty diligent with adjusting the prices to currency fluctuations.

Just came back from Japan and visited Cartier boutique in Roppongi and Azabudai Hills. Both had good inventory — I picked up a WG JUC classic with no issues in my size (16). Saved about $1100 (I live in CA where tax is 8.7%ish). Now is still a good time to purchase in Japan with the weak yen.
