Michael Kors Can we talk about Michael Kors MFF and Boutique?

I agree, eurekahj & TejasMama. There are bags at the outlet that are fantastic. The leather on the Laytons are excellent, but on the Python Fultons, not so much.

muranogrl - you could get either or from some department stores. Just check inside the lining, especially if the key clasp is important to you.

Sqeaky00 - yes they do have Gansevoorts and they are super fabulous bags!!! They had the totes at my outlet, and they had a different lining, the satin. If you look on Nordstroms website they have both types of linings.

This tote has the linen lining.

The satchel does not. Notice the lining difference?

So does it have the same quality as the original boutique and is it the same lining as the boutique version. I am not sure but I think the boutique had silver hardware and the outlet had gold hardware. Is that true?

This seller's prices are higher than outlet retail but she covers the price (under MSRP ) with her finger. And yes, her ring tote is the same one I bought at the outlet.

I noticed her finger, too, that naughty seller!

The ring tote is going to be my next bag. And then a Gansevoort. :graucho:

I dunno, only seen the outlet version IRL so far and IMO the MFF version was pretty awesome. Just be prepared that MFF have no dust bags or key clasps. If you want to see what the MFF version looks like you can use that naughty seller to investigate ;). She has them all.

It appears boutique vs. MFF will be subjective to the buyer. :smile1:

I was wondering what the difference is? How can I tell what is factory and what is boutique?
I've seen bags with linings that are a solid white/cream color, some that are black with a monogram that says michael kors, some that say kors with a circle around it and are cream...
Do Kors bags not have a creed?
Somebody said that MK has some bags from the collection that have been made into a cheaper version.... which bag was that? The ID chain line?
To address the last part of your question, the cheaper version you are referring to is known as the 'MICHAEL Michael Kors' collection.. Then there is the original super high end collection of just 'MICHAEL KORS'.

The bags from the 'MICHAEL KORS' collection will never be seen in outlets, however you will see bags from the 'MICHAEL Michael Kors' collection in all of the outlets

The original bags from the 'MICHAEL Kors' collection, are bags such as the Miranda and Casey bags. They also have bags that were made in Italy, in the 'MICHAEL KORS' collection, These bags generally run over 1000.00.

Michael Kors came up with the 'MICHAEL Michael Kors' collection later on (2004) to accommodate those that found bags from the 'MICHAEL KORS'collection, to be too spendy and unattainable. The 'MICHAEL Michael Kors' bags are much more affordable ( cheaper as you called it)

There is a huge difference in the quality between the two collections. The bags from the 'MICHAEL KORS' collection will often be lined with leather or suede. There is much more detailing and authenticating bags from this collection is quite different, than authenticating bags from the 'MICHAEL Michael Kors' collection. I believe the 'MICHAEL Michael Kors' collection began in 2004.
So in summary, there is not just a difference between the boutiques and the outlets, there is an even bigger difference between the two collections.

Here is an excerpt from an online article..

" It could have been a coincidence, but just as Kors joined Project Runway, his private equity backers (which included Idol) encouraged him to start a lower-priced line, the MICHAEL Michael Kors Collection. And while Kors continues to produce runway collections and offer ultra-luxe items (this $18,000 houndstooth mink wrap is available for pre-order now), it’s the other line of accessories and clothes—and accessories in particular—that’s really selling. As Idol said: “Small leather goods and handbags are most important to us.”

For some customers, the appeal of brand-name accessories, especially ones that seem affordable (and $300, relative to $3,000, does qualify), is enduring. As Kors told Bloomberg News.

I have mostly boutique bags but purchased two MFF bags off ebay. The weird thing is I receive more compliments on my MFF bags. Go figure.
There really isn't all that much difference with the bags from the 'MICHAEL Michael Kors' collection, since many of them are sold both at the boutiques and the outlets. The real major differences are between the different collections. The bags from the original 'MICHAEL KORS' collection, such as the Miranda or the Casey, are superior to the bags from from the 'MICHAEL MICHEAL Kors' collections. You will rarely, if ever, see any bags from the original 'MICHAEL Kors' collection, at any outlet stores. You might luck out if one has been discontinued and they have any left over, but it is not very likely.
