I have vibram put on mine. It helps the shoes last longer (and stay in better condition), plus, it keeps me from slipping and landing on my hiney.

Agree with BattyBugs. I had a couple pairs of Jimmy Choos and Guccis that I wore to the ground. Then I discovered vibrams, had them put on and now I am able to wear them instead of throwing them out. I now have every shoe vibramed/soled, mainly to make them last longer, keeping the red soles is an added benefit for my CLs.

I've had this issue as well, but there actually red sole guards that help preserve the sole. There is this place called shoe therapy that has a thine rubber sole that matches the red soles and prevents excessive toe wear.

Mee too! I love them and since they're red no one will really know!

has anyone tried these? your experiences? I want to protect my soles!

I saw that, it looks interesting! It seems a bit pricey. Then again, its a DIY.

the vibram ones I bought from here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1mm-thin...en_s_Shoes&hash=item3cbc9fe26c#ht_3495wt_1180

I've only used on 1 pair but I like the look of used soles so I didn't bother getting the cobbler to put them on the others.

Has anyone tried a heart sole grip? I have a pair that I don't want to bring in to vibram red just yet, and was wondering if these stick on insoles would be a good temporary fix?

I used to put clear non slip foot petals on the outside soles. They're a decent temporary fix, but after a while the sides start peeling/ripping and crap starts sticking to the adhesive, like you're walking around with toilet paper stuck to the bottom of your feet. Not a good look. I get rubber vibram soles for the shoes I wear constantly and it's a much better solution.

Actually I really hate the feeling of the new CL shoes. I find most of the CLs very uncomfortable to wear so I have to break them in. And they are always very slippery for me too.

So I always take the new CLs to my shoe guy and he puts the red rubber soles on and make them softer to wear.

Honestly, I do this with all the new shoes, Chanels, Gucci, YSLs, Diors, etc, anything that has plastic soles goes straight to the shoe professional... If the shoes have the leather sole (which I prefer) I wear them longer and when the leather sole is getting too old and scratchy, I take them for the new soles.

Never do it myself though.

I haven't tried those, but I buy these off of ebay and spray paint them red. It does an awsome job of protecting the sole and has traction.

I also started with the clear kind from the Shoe Petals people, but found that they didn't last very long; just NOT DURABLE, and not inexpensive either. I put the same kind that Nani uses ^^^ as soon as I buy them and when there is a bunch of pairs that I am sure that i am going to keep, I send them to the cobbler to get their red sole treatment (red 'vibram'). I love them vibrammed and feel that it makes me way more sure-footed when walking, especially in those 150s with the tapered platform (ie MBB)

Nani,
I use the same kind (and have bought from that guy)!

do you buy the large size and cut down? And which red spray paint do you use to mask the gray?

I buy the medium and sometimes have to cut a little depending on the shoe. The spray paint is Krylon Sunrise Red. I spray three light coats and let them dry in between.
