Can I protect the red on Louboutin soles?

This is the one thing that bugs me the most about CLs! Sure, the color only disappears from under the ball of your foot, but it still makes the shoes look very worn (and although people have told me it's not really visible, I've seen candid pics of celebs where it is so I'm not buying it :s) I too would get my CLs zipsoled if I could get it done in clear instead of black..But I haven't found a place where they do that.

Yeah why hasn't anyone invented see through/clear rubber to use on the bottom of shoes as protection? I don/t like covering up my Lanvin flats but those soles need the protectors or they just wear out completely . . . but the soles are light tan and the protectors are brown black, and I go to the best shoe repair places!!

my cobbler put beige rubber soles on my tan boots without me even asking, they definitely do exist! not clear but a huge improvement on black on a light colour :yucky:

I take all of my expensive shoes to the greatest shoe repair place ever! They put a super thin (but yes, it is black/brown) vibram sole on just the front of the bottom of the shoe. The red sole still completely shows when you are standing, walking, sitting. It has SAVED all of my favorites. It only costs $20 per pair and is the investment of a lifetime to save your shoes!

I placed a thin layer of clear gloss polyurethane Minwax on the bottom of my new pumps. (The stuff you coat your hardwood floors with). It works like a dream! I figured I'd give it a try before the first outside wear & before the bottoms get completely scuffed. I am amazed at the durability. I'm sure I'll need to keep applying after each wear, but it will be worth it if I can keep that fantastic red!

I doubt it will work if you have worn your shoes before, (it's like the principle of applying more nail polish on top of a nail that's already chipped, you need a clean and smooth surface!), but it may be worth a try! Hope that helps!

Gee, they should make the sole out of red leather, then! :confused1:

The red sole is a huge selling point, and this should NOT happen, IMO. I guess one shouldn't ever buy Louboutin flats or even those trendy wedges, oh no! And I don't like heels very much.

but even leather would wear down so it'd hardly help. and leather soles don't do well in cold/wet climates, so you'd have to get them re-soled anyway. rubber is really the only thing that would keep the red (well other than steel but just imagine the noise and making steel red probably isn't cheap, if it's even possible) and i'm not sure how keen people would be on that.

I'm currently impatiently waiting my first pair of Louboutins to arrive :yahoo: and I have been searching for something to put on the sole to keep the beautiful red intact and not hidden with topys which I think though practical ruin the look of the shoe.

I've found these clear sole protectors which I am going to try on them.

Thanks to Pharmdchick for the polyurethane trick I'm going to try that as well!
