I cannot believe how lucky I am! My most wonderful SA in the entire world texted me the moment these came to the store. Not only a porc calvi, but the bastia to go with it!! Holy Moly! Just gorgeous and I am sitting here staring at them. What is really interesting is how although the same leather, you can actually feel (and see) the difference between them- the bastia is a bit more shiny and pliable- 2 different animals!

Hi, I am considering buying this card holder for my boyfriends birthday. He currently carries an LV pocket organizer that has seen better days.

I have a couple of Q I’m hoping you Hermes pros could help me out with:
1: would this cardholder work for a man?
2: he carries his wallet in his pocket (trousers) would the corners wear badly?
3: it seems to hold quite a bit. He carries about 6 cards and some cash. Would he worry things falling out?

thank you all.

1: yup
2: don’t do Epsom, that’ll have corner wear for sure. Softer leathers shouldn’t have as much of a problem, and should wear “prettier”
3: cash won’t work at all. I carry 4 cards and it’s not a huge issue, but I absolutely couldn’t find a comfortable way to have cash in it

Adore my calvis and bastias- I put 6-8 cards in a calvi, and if I want to carry some cash ( less and less needed these days, if at all, but still...I fold a number of bills and they fit perfectly in the bastia ( along with the myriad of other things that go in there!).
Soft leathers will wear well, as Lejic stated above, and just keep getting better and better.

1. Yes, DH loves his.
2. I have no issues with my Epsom Calvis wearing on the corners. Love them. My Chevre Calvis are much more beat up. Love them too.
3. The softer the leather the looser it will get if he overstuffs it. This can be good or bad depending on his purpose and point of view. Epsom stretches less so things fall out of my Epsom less, but it might not be as comfortable to wear stuffed because it will resist conforming. YMMV. Having said that, think of this as a little folder of sorts for containing small items. Nothing really falls out unless one sort of haphazardly flings it open. To me, it doesn’t really require any more presence of mind than a normal wallet.
4. No issues holding US cash. Just fold in the middle. If you carry only $100 bills you don have to carry so many.:smartass:
