We have really hard water too, plus I wash my hands a lot so I'm putting on hand cream all day long! I do wear gloves in winter though, it's too cold without. So when I use my BBs I have to choose between dry hands or dark handles..... and I choose dry hands

As a reformed staunch anti - twilly ist, now follow the middle ground. Would love to see photos though of Barenia with and sans twilly....
I've never used any sort of wrapping on the handles of any of my bags. My Barenias are now well loved and they show it (which I love). And yes, the handles have darkened, but I think of it like I do the lines on my face.....evidence of life well lived.
I am a no wrap person on my Barenia bag. Here she is in all her glory.

EB, have you done any kind of treatment to your Barenia?
I probably used some of Docride’s products on her. But that’s it.
I just use the bag. A lot.
Maybe a little off topic, but I have been struggling. I got a Fauve Barenia B30 in GH from FSH early this year, but I have a gold B30 in togo and PH, too. I love both, but I think it's too redundant to keep both. I can not make up my mind on which one to keep, so that Barenia baby is still unused. What would you do?

I piped in to say that my natural barenia looks the same as etoupebirkin's. Twillied handles are not my thing, with one exception: on the natural barenia K28 retourne because it seems to complement the lady-like look of that one. If one does like the look of a twilly though I would think that would be bag style specific rather than determined by the type of leather.
Bottom line: I believe barenia will darken less than ostrich. And as others have said, it's really dependent on how creamy the palms carrying the bag.
