I buy myself jewelry all the time. If I like it, if I deserve it, if I can comfortably afford it, why not? Never wait for someone else to give you what you want most. Go get it yourself!

I'm not married and I have a boyfriend who likes living simply, so I buy all my own jewelry. My mom and grandparents have given me some, but all the ones I treasure are from my own personal income. Love them all!

I have picked out and purchased all my jewelry although my parents and grandparents have "contributed" to some of the jewelry that I have purchased. I'm not married and don't have a bf so I purchase my own jewelry and prefer to pick it out myself since I have pretty specific taste in jewelry. Although I certainly wouldn't decline any jewelry gifts from a future bf or dh!

Most of mine are gifts (sometimes with very specific guidance lol) and I like it that way, for me the jewelry is more than just something flashy when its a gift, it has significance or meaning which makes it even more special.

Mine are about half/half, but the pieces I've bought for myself generally mean more to me than gifts. They represent my own hard work, diligence and independence. They're something I can look back on with fondness throughout life as symbols of my own capabilities. And I'll be able to pass on these pieces when I'm old and grey and tell the story about how I carefully chose the perfect piece for myself to mark milestones in my life, with my own money.

I give specific guidance too (hehe, love that term) when people are buying me jewellery as a gift, but then... I pretty much chose it, they just shelled out for it. There's something really special and 'private' feeling about buying your own.

The first sets of jewelry i had were gifts from my mother & grandmother. My DH gave me 3 fabulous rings. All my new jewelry, I bought on my own. I love the feeling of buying my own jewelry.

Bit of both here. Husband has bought me diamond earrings, some Tiffany silver, and pearl earrings as gifts (at my suggestion!) and I have bought myself a pearl cocktail ring as well as my LV inclusion bangles and most of my more inexpensive pieces.

I mostly buy it myself...I agree with everyone that said, if you want it, you want it right away and not wait for someone to buy it for you... and the couple of gifts i have received have been stamp of approval by me =)

the pieces that I have with gold or platinum are usually gifts from my parents, but definitely not from designers...but sparkles just the same...

i buy my own fine jewelry because I'm fairly young, and usually boyfriends and friends and people can't financially afford to buy me that kind of jewelry. i do recieve some really nice CZ jewelry though, as well as faux silver. But it still looks pretty, and I don't think anyone can tell unless they look closely.
