Hi everyone! Just want to write a review about the PS Jaidi Finds because I had an amazing experience with them ! I think they’re pretty well known already, but just in case anyone’s looking - they answered all my questions, were super patient, quick to respond, sent TONS of pictures of the bag, and the bag arrived super quickly. I also shopped around a lot for this super hard to find mini, and I thought their prices were very fair comparatively. Hope this helps!

They said in order for me to make a purchase with them they would require a photo of my license/ID and to follow my instagram account. Did they do the same with you?

They did! I actually liked the added protections (and I have to ask clients in my line of work for pictures of their drivers licenses a lot so I guess it didn’t seem weird to me haha) and especially liked being able to pay with a credit card for added protections just in case. TBH the only thing I was worried about was if the bag had any slight flaws in person (I was worried it might be a rejected bag since it’s so hard to get), but it looks even better in person than the photos!

I would never give out personal information like that. There are privacy laws in every country and collecting DL, SSN, age, passwords, etc. Is a big no no for any company or even for an individual. Should there be hacking, information leak, compromised cloud, ransom attack, identity theft, etc. There are huge implications.

I agree re the SSN (never ever give that out!) but not necessarily on the drivers license point. It’s really just for proof of identity. Now I wouldn’t give it out to a random person on Instagram for sure, but since Jaidi Finds is an NYC company with an established reputation, I felt comfortable with it. But obviously to each their own! I’m sure if you said you weren’t comfortable giving out that info you could send just the photo part itself or something - no reason why that would need the actual DL number, which is the part that could be used in identity theft.

I thought of the request as the same from a store requesting to see a photo ID to verify you aren’t using a stolen credit card. They also have a website with terms and conditions - which I read through  so I personally felt secure with making the transaction, and just wanted to share my experience here - ending up with a lovely, sold out bag !

Absolutely true, we have no idea where these secure information are being saved and who has access.

even big corporate organisations are recent victims to Hacks and even facebook had a recent attack. So it is never advisable to hand out personal information

You could easily redact all the information from your drivers license, minus your name and photo, for the identity verification purpose. I agree it’s not advisable to hand out personal information left and right but if I’m giving a company my credit card info and trusting that they are keeping that information secure (and Jaidi Finds states on their website that they use stripe which is SSL secured, and used by most small businesses these days) then I shouldn’t have a problem with them wanting to verify my identity to protect themselves on their end as well. Honestly with the attitude that you can “never” hand out personal information online, we could never use online shopping platforms period. But I also check my credit score (via credit karma) weekly to make sure nothing is amiss.

If your credit card is hacked and money is taken out, you have the credit card company's backing and you are able to get your money back.

Losing money is not the same as losing identity.

If you are okay to hand out your personal information then it is up to you ! but you cannot complain about other's attitude.

Not complaining - I literally said above “to each their own”, I’m just refuting your statement that it is never advisable to hand out personal information. People ask for photo identification all the time, for lots of reasons, and if you redacted the information from your DL there would be nothing there to steal anyways.

Exactly! The worst consequence is stolen identity where for example, they duplicate your information onto a DL and use it at a police stopping.

Even if you trust the person or company taking your DL number and all the information, that doesn't mean your information is being protected. Cyber attacks and breaches happen every hour. Best to always redact as much as possible but they may still take your photo/image. With everything more and more in cloud/iaas, there are even more risks.

We trust retailers with our billing and shipping information but they should not be recording your DL number or copying your photo. The combination of your address, dl and photo is what is private.
