Great thread! I'm new to designer handbags... expecting my first LV soon! However, I am looking for a budget <500 structured work bag (as I'm scared to use my new LV everyday!) - any suggestions? I like the Mulberry Bayswater east west style but it is more than my $500 budget.

Thank you for the ideas LuvAllBags. The Pippa was nice but I wasn't sure about the zippers. I loved the MK Hamilton design except I just couldn't overlook the chain - I think all leather looks better. I ended up getting a Cole Haan Village Eden Tote.

"Office Bag", "Catch All Tote", and "Everyday Bag" &#8230; are the same for me. I change between Chanel Jumbo, LV Delightful, LV Speedy 30 and CD Gaucho (the last one, usually on casual-fridays).

But that's pretty much it. For me. ;)

Thanks KarenSJ! the style is exactly what i was looking for in a work bag. I'm soooo tempted too BUT its over my budget. I will bookmark it for next year - which is only a few months away ;)

This is actually a very helpful thread for me. I have been seriously thinking about cutting back my collection, and when I look at the list I have provided below, it makes me realize that's all I need.

Building Your Collection: The 5 Bags Every Girl Needs




  • The Catch-All Tote: this one would be my Louis Vuitton Noe. This bag is my largest bag, and my sturdiest!



  • The Everyday Favorite: Hmmm. This one I am still working on. Right now, I think I am going to say my Coach small Sophia in Black.




  • The “Instant Dresser-Upper”: I have a cute little crossbody purse from Coach in blue sequins. I think that would work!



  • The Office Bag: I would have to say that the bag my SO got me, a berry shopper called Penelope from Coach. I normally don't buy the bags with the C's all over it, but I just LOVE the color!



  • The Slouchy Bag: This would definitely be my lime Coach Hailey. Slouchy and awesome!

Hmm...I think I have multiple bags that would fit each category! Oops. :)

The Catch-All Tote: I have a Banana Republic Kristin tote that would fit this category. It is a sand color, perfectly neutral and a nice leather, very understated and BIG!

The Everyday Favorite: For this, I don't know...I have a J. Crew Kirtley satchel (brown) and a Michael Kors shoulder bag (camel) that would both fit. I am planning on getting the J. Crew Biennel satchel in red as well and might sell the Kirtley satchel for it.

The &#8220;Instant Dresser-Upper&#8221;: I want this leopard print bag from next season that would fit this category, as well as several nice evening bags, my favorite of which is a large black envelope clutch.

The Office Bag: This would be my J. Crew Ashbury bag. It is huge, wonderfully organized, and a great combination of brown and black leather with a large comfortable strap. Or, you can carry it as an oversized satchel.

The Slouchy Bag: This would be my Hype double shoulder bag. It is nice black leather with a golden chain and a tassel for a dressy touch.

The Catch-All Tote: Really want a Louis Vuitton Noe or Petit Noe, but for now I alternate between an Wilson's Leather Tote, Kenneth Cole Reaction Nylon Tote and a flowery/silvery Betsey Johnson tote.


The Everyday Favorite: Simple Coach Crossbody bag.


The &#8220;Instant Dresser-Upper or Downer&#8221;: For me it's my Black Epi Speedy 30

The Office Bag: trusty B. Makowski handbag

The Slouchy Bag: hhhmmm.
