BREAKING NEWS from Paris Hermes fired 2 SA's for underground Selling !

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

My boyfriend was in Paris for 10 days for business and was sent H shopping. He's a gorgeous man and very charismatic. But he didnt find it.
He constantly was calling me or texting me while at the store asking the names, colors, hw I needed. Probably they saw it and thought he was a reseller? He didn't get the bag and now he hates H so much, noway I can take him to the store! He thinks I'm crazy.

Is it 1 K and B a year? or 1K or B a year? and do they count this individually? or you would be count as one if you go into the store as a couple? Is the year calculated by actual date? like if you purchae 1 B/K this March, then you can't get another one until next March, or is it calculated another way? Can you share with me if you know? I am asking about Paris store only. TIA.
1 kelly or 1 birkin by individual client by semester

I agree: SAs who hold prized items "hostage" and give them to people who play the "game"... are only doing so for their own gain... to make their commissions or quotas or whatever.

Some people don't seem to mind - when it's not happening to them. But the truth is that it is happening - and this is in and of itself disturbing.

Interesting. I am not surprised. The game that H makes you play will bring out the corruption in everyone. I guess when SAs tell you to buy X amount of scarves, RTW, or fine jewelry it is also a form of corruption because that commission goes to the SA. So its a way for them to get more commission.

Completely agree. Was extremely turned of by an SA on the phone today in another country that even if there are bags in store when I visit, he only sells to residents.

Why would my money be any less worthy than somebody else´s? If there is a bag still available on the shelf, it means nobody has bought it yet!!

My local store told me this aswell: they prefer to sell Birkins and Kellys to their regular customers than to tourists or people they don't know, because they don't want the bags to go to resellers.

And the irony is that many of the 'regular' customers who Hermes thinks are their better clients are the very ones who are buying and flipping the bags to resellers. And some are even resellers themselves under aliases.

It's really become epidemic.

The fact that there is the limit of one birkin or kelly every six months speaks exactly to this problem.

I would really like a Kelly but the only ones available are the ones floating around on e-bay and such places. But I don't want to buy those, not only are they more expensive than a new unused bag but there might be just as many fakes and they are charged equally much.

Some resellers are very proud of the fact that they have constant supply of new bags because they have their personal 'buyers' throughout the world who are more than willing to sell them their bags. I am almost certain that most of them would be regular clients and even VIPs.

How is H going to stop all these resellers or their 'buyers'? I don't think that making bags readily available on shelves is going to help solve the problem either. This could also potentially encourage more people to constantly stalk boutiques in their hopes of getting more bags, and then making a quick buck by selling their bags to resellers and this would only work in the favour of the resellers.

I can't think of any solid ideas on how H could stop them.
But from what I have read from another thread, H might be implementing a new policy whereby customers can only spa their bags if they have the receipt with their name on it to show that they are the owner of the bag, if not it will be rejected for spa.
Or perhaps they should insist on putting initials on every bag - kind of like if it were for a staff purchase (serial numbers)!

Not that they would ever do that but could you imagine how quickly that would kill the resale market!

I don't want to have initials on everything I buy. I don't want to feel that if I buy this bag, I am committed to it for the rest of my life. It may or may not work for me. It may work for me now and but may not work for me in 10, 20 or 30 years time. I may get tired of it and not like it any more. I want to be able to sell it if it doesn't work for me, or worst case scenario, if I ever needed to.

Once you sell the goods out of your door, you really cannot control what people will do to them. Because you do not have a legal standing to do so. Just like buying/selling a car, a house, everything.

No, I don't sell Hermes bags for a living.

I hope they not do this . . . I have many bags passed from mother , aunties , of course receipts are all gone . But many need spa very much . I will be sad if I cannot spa the bag !

I see where you are coming from. And I do agree with you that once a customer buys the goods they are free to do whatever they want with it.

Ultimately, it's up to H to do what they want to control the sales of bags. I don't know what else H is planning to do to discourage resellers but I understand how frustrating it can be for genuine buyers looking to purchase something they really love.

Putting initials on bags was just an idea after seeing what they do for staff purchases, similar to what they do for LV staff purchases :smile1:
Perhaps others can chime in with potential suggestions on what H could do just for funsys? :p Would be interesting to have a read.
Also, if it's true that the H people do indeed read tPF, perhaps they might get some ideas/feedback from their loyal customers on how to curb this whole reselling biz :D

I am not 100% sure of this..might only apply to the newer bags (Q-stamp and so on)

The bold part is the only thing H can do, is to control who they sell the bags to. And control their SAs not to lie, take bribe etc.
