Brandoff - Good Experiences? Other trusted Sellers?

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

Sadly, I have seen recent examples where competitors used claims of inauthentic products to take out the competition
Is there any way to know which sellers double as authenticators , some icon I have ignored ?

While I'm not naive enough to think it never happens, I think it's rare that honest sellers of authentic items report other honest sellers' listings if the item is authentic.

Many of the TPF authenticators are also sellers and none (that I'm aware of) ever report authentic items and when "competitors'" listings are questioned on the appropriate AT subforum, they are accurately authenticated.

The examples I know are not of inappropriate calls in the authentication threads.
Much more subtle issue.
The identification, finds and fakes threads are less visible. Anything in the finds thread is an implicit authentication by the poster - with possibly 2 posts to her name. Negative comments are backhanded (implied not explicit) calls of being fake and so forth. Piling on can amplify the shaky original post.

Okay, you have specific posters/examples in mind.

Yes, the posters are not obvious authenticators anywhere just individuals , a pointed post once in a blue moon by an unknown
When I asked is there an icon for recognize an authenticator, I should have clarified ... I meant at eBay not here
The eBay verbiage is that “sellers” do authentications, who are they ? In the case of linda’s , she (and her people) uses an outside service (mypoupette). Linda (seller) is not the authenticator. I have no idea how MP works for Linda , email, phone, on site .... but in that case the seller is distinct from the authenticator.
Just curious , there is currently no Hermes scarf EBay authentication, just bags. Yes, the bags are 10X more expensive than an average scarf but there are also 10X more listings for scarves than bags. So, the same dollar amount of listings for scarves as for bags. So, I am waiting ...

There's no icon or badge as TPF has but the way I've interpreted it from reading (extensively) about the program is that now, ebay has added sellers to their program. They seem to have picked sellers who have good reputations, not necessarily that those sellers have never listed or sold a fake (because many have) but they may not have been caught. (I know for a fact that reporting fakes from certain sellers and from certain countries can be an exercise in futility. Listings are rarely removed and the only minimal action I've seen is a rare case where the seller was notified by ebay that a listing needs to be ended early.)

I admit that I don't know much more than anyone else but I read all I can find about the program, more because I don't trust it than because I'd want to use it!

My interest stems from kefuffle -Hermes scarf thread / orange Turandot - where a buyer must have spent a fortune on conflicting post sale authentications , there are so many opinions , it is not an exact science for Hermes scarves , just trying to better educate myself in the light of what is coming , me too I am skeptical of eBay authenticate

Just started notice today, a lot of items released in last few days by Brandoff have this "Authenticity Verified" flag, what's this about? I just did the purchase last Wed and seems my item missed out in that. Any of you noticed it?

Those items are now part of the "Ebay Authenticate" program. (Not all a seller's items are included.)

It was discussed starting here (and keep reading), specifically commenting on Brandoff now being part of the EA program.
Brandoff - Good Experiences? Other trusted Sellers?

Hi There - I've only seen good things about Brandoff but most of the threads that I can find are at least a year old, so I wanted to do my due diligence. Would you still recommend them? Any other common, popular sellers known for authenticity? Specifically, I'm looking at Louis Vuitton bags. The number of pics required to authenticate is pretty high and I'm struggling to get all the pics I need... so I'd like to approach this from a different angle and only look at bags from sellers that are known for authentics. (which is hard to tell on ebay alone because I don't really trust seller ratings.) Thanks in advance!
I ordered a chanel 19 maxi for $3121.82 (discount of $360.36) plus tax $238.74 bringing the total to $3481.98, but they declared I payed $3842.64 so I end up having to pay a %20 VAT of $770.51 and BRAND OFF Hong Kong won't respond on eBay. Please don't order from them
