My feelings about Box leather..
I love it, its by far my favourite leather if I'm honest (I'm not a fan of grained leather and much prefer a smooth skin).
But I only own one vintage box Kelly my other h bags are Sikkim, Togo,Clemence and Fijord.
I would love a Box Birkin Sooooooo much but living in the UK where it rains and not being someone to baby my bags i alas think that will have to remain a dream.
I do own Box in other brands, Celine and Gucci and its my experiences with those bags as well as the poor condition of my vintage Kelly when I brought it which colour my opinion.
My Kelly bag was very dried out with lots of cracks no doubt due to poor storage and maintenance, there was evidence of rot on the handle making it weak (I've covered it with a twilly as the rest of the condition of the bag is generally too poor to warrant paying for a new handle).
I got rained on whilst wearing my Gucci bag and stupidly didn't wipe it down immediately and it now has blisters.
I dont mind scratches as they are part of the patina and blend in over time but its dents that I cant abide, and stupidly I dented my Celine edge bag whilst storing it with another bag resting too close in my cupboard.
If I found an already very worn box Birkin a'la Jane's Birkins at the right price I'd probably go for it but to buy a new or great condition one then cause it real damage through my own carelessness would upset me too much.
I think Box is great if you will invest time in maintaining it and sending away to spa every couple of years.
