If the bag was retouched, and not by Hermès, then you cannot have it treated by Hermès in future. This isn't ideal for a box calf bag as the ability to restore these bags to a high level is one of their best assets. It also lowers the resale value considerably. That said, it looks sprayed, not retouched, which is frankly worse. Personally I would reconsider.

Thanks for your advice ~ ya, I've decided not to take this kelly... I just went to the shop to view it... It is quite hurt the bag...

Can you ladies help me out. Bought a calf box leather Sellier. I heard you have to be really care with the calf box. I want to enjoy my vintage new to me purse. Now I am Leary to use it!

I regret my kelly box calf purchase because at first I thought it would be such a durable material but overtime so many visible scratches which really irks me! I think Epsom would have been a better choice for me.

Have you tried treating it or taking it to spa? There are many box calf care tips in Docride's thread.
Box calf will last for decades, but it will show scratches, that is its nature. After a while they blend in.

Definately the Medaille d'Or range. As I mentioned above, I use the Renovateur and the Renovateur Nappa, both Medaille d'Or. The jars are square with black lid, Jadeite posted a pic a few posts up.
hi duna, jadeite, and others!
i realize this isn't the barenia thread, but i have the saphir 1925 and wonder about using it on barenia to help with the kind of scratch marks that are not from fingernails. Also worn down corners. Your thoughts?
TIA, Laila

I have several Barenia bags and use this cream. I did my Barenia Evelyn and it came out looking amazing. Just use a little dab not a lot. Hope this helps!

I'd ask DocRide over in the Vintage Bag Nightmares thread. She has a wealth of info on Barenia (and other H leathers)!

Thank you Rouge H! May I ask, did using the Saphir 1925 change the darkness or natural sheen on your barenia Evelyne? (I assume yours is the natural color)

Yes, thank you catsinthebag, I have been over there too!

No, I don't think it altered the color of my Barenia Evelyne it just had a healthy nourished look with a nice sheen to it

I haven't use Saphir on Barenia either, but I'd hesitate using it all over the bag because of the amount of oil in it. Plus, it's much more liquid than Saddle Baume, which I think makes it harder to apply on such an absorbent leather as Barenia. Might cause splotchiness if you try to do the whole bag. But on boxcalf, it's wonderful!

Laila, I have never tried Saphir on my Barenia bags, I use the Hermès Baume which is specific for saddle leathers; great results!!

Thank you duna. Is that the one named Baume renovant? In other words, does H sell different baumes? (I am thinking Hermes may put their own label on the saphir products, but that doesn't matter I am going to go with whichever one you all know to work for barenia.). I am not wanting to refurbish a la Docride in this case, but to keep the patina as it is.

Thank you ouija board! I'll save the saphir 1925 creme for my veau box then. [emoji130]

Yes, it's the baume renovant: it's the only one H makes, there's an oil aswell but I've never used it.
