Hi everyone,

Finally I'm coming closer and closer to the final decision for the color of my first Birkin. I hope I don't bother you with my question but this is such an important decision for me, especially because most probably it's going to be my one and only Birkin for a long time so I really want to make a good decision.

For my first Birkin I want a classy and timeless bag. A bag that will go with a lot. A bag that I carry even over 20 years when I'm older. I don't want to go for black because I already have some black bags.

Then I discovered Blue de Prusse, Blue Abysse and Thalassa blue and I think I'm leaning towards those blues instead of Gris T or Etoupe ( I was considering Gris. T and Etoupe too). I think all those blue colors would go nice with a lot of my wardrobe. I want to go for phw btw.

1) Out of those three blues, which color would you pick in which leather (I consider Togo, Clemence or Fjord) and why? Which one is the most classy and timeless in your opinion?

2) I'm not sure if I want to do a lining or not. If I want a lining, I want something that is quite subtle and that goes well with the blue color.
Any suggestions for a subtle lining? Or would you choose a blue bag without lining?

3) Or would you pick Etoupe or Gris T over the blue colors?

4) And is it possible to order Togo without the veins?

Btw, I know I'd wear all those colors (Etoupe, Gris T, Blue de Prusse, Blue Abysse or Thalassa Blue) and all of them would go with my wardrobe, but it's so hard to pick just one.

I know, a lot of questions, please don't shoot me lol :p, I'd really love to hear all your opinions :flowers: :D.

Bleu de Prusse in Clemence is the prettiest of these choices. It shimmers and can have more depth than Bleu Abysse (pretty in clemence, but not as pretty as bdp). Thalassa will not grow old with you well. Not as timeless also has the white stitching. jmho. Pass on any of these colors in togo...just boring.

I like simple things, so the major contrast in lining would not be my thing with this "classic" bag. If you have to choose something, I would go for something "tone on tone, or a dark color. Raisin? Rouge H? I dunno. I'm still one for the simple thing.

3) Or would you pick Etoupe or Gris T over the blue colors?
I think Etoupe will stand out more in your collection, esp since you already have a lot of dark bags. Yes, I would choose etoupe over the blues.

Nope.

Very interesting choices. I myself would go with etoupe, but regarding the blues, IF UPS would ever get here, I'd be able to tell you more about bleu de prusse!

I have already given my input on this but for the record I say

If it were for me I would choose Bleu de Prusse because it would fit perfectly with my wardrobe but I also like Bleu Abysse. Also seeing a bag in clemence at the last H meet I was struck how beautiful the leather was (couldn't help but stare) so I vote for clemence too.

BA with indigo or rouge H or BdP with Rouge H or Noir would be subtle for a contrasting lining.

I'm so excited for you :happydance:

Ahhh I am telling you 2010 is the year of Blue!
Well after Ciel I like the new Blue Abysse~but really it best to see them in person.
Colors can look different and each may "feel" and "look" different to you.
I have a picture of a Hermes window with all BA bags. I will see if I can find it and post it for you.

Thanks hun, you're so supportive :D :hugs:.

Thalassa is the brightest of your options, next is Bleu de Prusse. These both have the slightest Teal undertone.

Bleu Abysse is deeper and has the slightest purple undertone.

So, it may depend on your taste and your wardrobe.

Blues are very classic. You won't regret any of the above, though I had a Thalassa bag once that I sold because I found it too bright to wear in the colder months.

You could be right about that, I like all the H. blue colors btw :D.
And I really like your new Ciel Birkin, it's beautiful :smile1:. If you can find that picture, it would be great. I already made a map with all the darker blue colors that I could find to see the differences. I'm going to a H. store this weekend and hopefully I can see some different blue colors IRL.
I really like Eva Longloria's Blue Abysse Birkin in the Stars with Hermès thread:

Anyone knows which leather her Birkin is? Togo, Clemence or Fjord?

Personally I'd love to go for Togo but without those veins. The same with Fjord, I've seen it with and without veins. I like Clemence too but I've read that it doesn't hold his shape very well (gets slouchy) and I prefer that it doesn't get slouchy.

Thank you for that, that was really helpfull. Now I know that it's not going to be Thalassa, I think it's going to be too bright for me if it's brighter than BdP. Blue de Prusse is bright enough for me :smile1:.
So now it's between BdP and Blue Abysse vs. Gris T. or Etoupe :sweatdrop:.

I played with a Bleu Abysse Birkin in Clemence leather and PHW a few months ago and it's the best blue I've ever seen, IMHO. The Bleu Abysse Clemence Birkin is made with black resin, so I wouldn't feel the need for a contrast lining. Classy classy classy! (I want one, too!!!!!)
