i can give an opinion on the Bag De Jour, i have never owned a patent one.
The Bag DeJour is very comfy to carry, it can be worn 3 different ways. At least the nappa can, it's a very lovely tote style that has a nice structure on the bottom, wider at the base and easy to get in and out of.
is this the type of info you are looking for?

since the bag is patent i don't think it can be worn the 3rd way.
1. side straps clip inside
2. side straps clip to the outside
3. for Nappa the sraps clip to the front of the bag.
**#3 would probably mess up the patent leather, so i would think it would not be recommended. HTH
