Black Julian backpack

So I've finally purchased the Julian backpack, black leather with gold hardware. Is it just me or does this pebbled leather look cheap? It's very shiny and feels like plastic, especially in comparison to the leather on the RM belt bag I just purchased as well. Can't decide whether to return or keep in hopes that the leather will soften up over time...does anyone own this color, or other colors that they love? Or is the nylon a better purchase over the leather?

From the picture it does not look cheap but I've read a few reviews from others that says there's looks cheap and feels hard and plasticky also. I've been wanting to purchase this bag for a long time now but I'm really afraid to now.

I have the bag in the larger size with silver hardware and I do not think it looks cheap in person. My bag is very soft and thick. I really like the leather. I think it has an unusual texture.

It reminds me of Alexander Wang dumbo leather, which I love.

I like that this bubble leather doesn’t scratch like the regular pebbled leather. Makes it look unique. It will retain its shape much longer than the pebbled leather. When the black goes on sale I will have it in the bubble leather.
