Black diamond engagement rings?

If you want to combine sparkle and color you can find a dark gray diamond which will sparkle more than a pure black one.

My original ering that was stolen was a blood red diamond in a platinum/white micropave halo set. I LOVED that ring, the stone was the color of a garnet but with the clarity and sparkle of a diamond. I've never seen another one like it and I was so, so upset when that ring was stolen. I have a diamond now but in my heart of hearts I want a ruby or sapphire next...the white is nice but it's not very "me" in the way my red diamond ring was.

This is very similar to the color: http://starlightbands.com/images/colored-diamonds/red-diamond.jpg

It was considered a "fancy deep" color grade.

I say go for it.

I have a non-traditional engagement ring with an aquamarine center stone. And I cannot tell you the amount of compliments I get, from friends, family, co-workers, and complete strangers.

So go with what you love, and it will be the right choice.

Go for it. But I think having a white pave halo around the black stone would be nicest. Like the first one in the selection posted.

I don't know why, it just looks more "engagement-y" that way or something - and would be a nice compromise between edgy and personalised to you, but also traditional.

I agree, black diamonds are nice and I've always loved them, but would look amazing with a white diamond halo:smile1:

i think the rings you posted are gorgeous! and i also think if you love black diamonds, why not get one for your e-ring?

back in the day, lots of people would wear a dark sapphire as an e-ring stone, so it's not an un-heard of idea!

One of my girlfriends has a black diamond e-ring that was custom made for her by a really cool local jeweler and it's FABULOUS!

It has a 2 ct. round center and it's in a bridge type setting with rows of black and white diamonds around it. It's SO her, modern and quirky!

I think they are pretty, but they look hematite. That's probably what most people will think it is. They also may not know it's an engagement/wedding ring. I have hematite rings and love them, but I would not want to pay black diamond prices for them.

i'd say maybe some black diamond accent stones on the setting, but as the center stone, i'd say go with a white diamond. the black diamond center stone, looks a little goth to me. if that is the look you want, then great, but IMO it isn't all that classic.

Given you can afford 2 carats or more on a black diamond, it'll look amazing! I would personally go for a platinum or palladium setting. Ruthenium or Titanium would be "gothic" but not as "bridal"
