My first Birkin is sitting under the tree awaiting Christmas morning. Should I have an insert to protect the lining? Does anyone have advice on finding the right kind? My B is a 35. TIA for any help.

Actually a Chameleon insert in the XL size is identical to the interior of a B35, I personally do not like the L because there is extra space in the bag.

I use a Chameleon XL sturdy to maintain the shape of my Birkin, keep the contents organised and protect the interior from spillages - everything goes in there, better to be safe than sorry from pen leakage/kids stuff/creams etc. Using a purse liner, for me, means I am more likely to use my bag rather than baby it as I carry what I would normally.

It makes transfer between bags very quick too.

I never use any of my H without a purse liner!

Agree on this too about the XL. But I love the large since the extra space can be used for scarfs, gloves, magazine, book or anything that doesn't belong to the everyday content.

Totally agree on this!

I protect my lining from keys scratches etc, with Chameleon and I can't leave without eather! :smile1:

Yes - as well as protecting from spillages, the insert protect the Chevre lining from the "dent" marks. I know it's a sign of normal wear but, as I understand it, (might be wrong so feel free to correct!), H don't spa the interior. Therefore it makes more sense to try to protect the lining. :smile1:

I, too, like L better. I tend to pack full the insert, and still want to keep the shape of the bag as not fully loaded. The space around the insert does it.

Congrats on your new Birkin!!!

I have tried an insert and at first thought I liked it but I realized that it bothered me to have to put things back in to the exact place in the insert ... that took time to do (seconds but still annoying!) One of the things I like about the Birkin is that I can just throw things in there and not have to put them in a particular place.

All my little things are in a Karo and I think having an H rainbow really works well and keeps the interior spotless.
