‘It’ Star Bill Skarsgard and ‘Sharp Objects’ Actress Eliza Scanlen Join Netflix’s ‘The Devil All the Time’ (EXCLUSIVE)
“It” star Bill Skarsgard and “Sharp Objects” breakout Eliza Scanlen will star in Antonio Campos’ adaptation of “The Devil All the Time,” which Netflix has officially acquired for distribution.
Skarsgard and Scanlen join an all-star cast that includes Tom Holland, Chris Evans, Mia Wasikowska, Robert Pattinson and Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert, who attached themselves prior to the start of the Toronto Film Festival.
Campos is directing and co-wrote with Paulo Campos. Jake Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker are producing through their Nine Stories banner along with Randall Poster and Max Born. Annie Marter and Jacob Jaffke are exec producing.
The story is based on Donald Ray Pollock’s novel and is set in a place called Knockemstiff, Ohio, a forgotten backwoods where a storm of faith, violence and redemption brews. Out of desperation to save his dying wife, Willard Russell turns to prayer which succumbs to sacrifice. This sets our protagonist Arvin, Willard’s son, on his path from bullied kid to a man who knows when to take action.
Production is set to start next month in Alabama.

“It” star Bill Skarsgard is joining John Boyega and Olivia Cooke in Scott Free Productions’ “A Naked Singularity,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap exclusively.
Chase Palmer is directing the project, with Palmer having written the screenplay with David Matthews. P. Jennifer Dana, Tony Ganz, Ryan Stowell and Kevin J. Walsh are producing, while Ridley Scott, Dick Wolf and John Zois are executive producing.
The film will be an adaptation of Sergio De La Pava’s debut novel of the same name. It follows Casi, a successful public defender in New York who starts to question everything after he loses his first case. The novel explores the American criminal justice system and was first published in 2008.
Skarsgard’s recent credits include “Atomic Blonde,” “Deadpool 2” and “Assassination Nation,” as well as “Castle Rock” and “Hemlock Grove.” He will next reprise his role as Pennywise in “It: Chapter Two,” which will hit theaters on Sept. 6. He will also star in “Villains” opposite Maika Monroe, which debuted at the 2019 SXSW film festival. It will release later this year.
He also recently wrapped production on “The Devil of All Time” opposite Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland and Mia Wasikowska, for director Antonio Campos. Skarsgard is represented by WME, Magnolia Entertainment and Narrative.
Palmer wrote the screenplay for “It” alongside Gary Dauberman and Cary Fukunaga. His other credits include “The Alienist” and “Neo-Noir.”
Anton is financing “A Naked Singularity” alongside 3311 Productions and Harold van Lier, Anton’s president of distribution, will be selling the film at the Cannes Film Festival this month.
