I definitely think the person was paid $250K. It's a video of one of the most private (in the sense of how controlled they are about the image they project to the public) couples on the planet and family in private. That's a big score for TMZ.

Luxury hotel FIRES employee who was paid $250,000 for video of Solange Knowles attacking Jay Z

A New York City hotel says it has identified and fired the person who recorded security video appearing to show Beyonce's sister attacking Jay Z inside an elevator last week.
The Standard Hotel says the person has been terminated for 'breaching the security polices of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video.'
Website TMZ posted the video Monday and said it was shot last week inside a Standard Hotel elevator.

It's in TMZ's interest for people to think they paid a lot for a celebrity tape or a celebrity scoop.

The fact that the Carters are notoriously private and you never see/hear about them in any type of scandal is what makes me believe the guard was paid nicely for the tape. He probably went straight to TMZ, and TMZ jumped on it; this is the kinda ish they live for.

He should've got his check and quit. Now he'll have issues with finding employment when that money runs out because this is going to follow him.

that guard really should have asked for more money and had the money sent to a Swiss account and then left the country with no forwarding address. I wonder if they knew that they would get caught and fired?Hard to believe that they didnt see this coming and that they didnt at least have some sort of legal counsel prior to making a sale that big. I mean its almost like this is another conspiracy because think about it why in the world would someone sell this tape knowing all roads would lead back to them! I'm sure this person received a wire transfer from TMZ all the hotel had to do was check bank accounts. I would love to know if this person actually just turned themselves in because they knew there was no way they wouldnt get caught. They had to have known that leaking a video of this magnitude would cause lawsuit after lawsuit and complete chaos. Interesting how the Standard hasnt released a persons name.........

Uh, your job can't just check your bank account. It might not have been a guard. A maid could go visit her friend the security guard in the security room and he/she said, look at what happened. The maid said, Ooooh, I am going to tape this. Guard says, lol, whatever, go for it.

Me thinks that this person cared way more about getting a chunk of cash than their job. Perhaps they just DGAF about their job or that field anymore. Shrug. I haven't read anything about a lawsuit or a name being released so far.

People are stupid, especially the ones looking to make a quick buck. The guard was looking to make a few quick bucks now and not thinking that far down the line or any ramifications.
