hey y'all
i luv this thread!! new to this forum but have been trying to read up on ps in korea. im not sure what i need, but as i m getting older, i feel like i need a whole lot of everything now!!
m planning on heading out to korea b4 the yr ends, anyone else?

so far, i've only heard back from vip and bk. im curious, for those of u who have heard back from the different clinics, did the drs tell u wud benefit from v-line surgery, or was that something u specifically asked for? so far, none of the drs who responded suggested v-line for me, but i think i need it. mayb it's my age. idk

can anyone tell me if i can go to 1 clinic for double eyelid surgery n then a cpl dayz later to another for nj, fat graph, v-line? i really like the round circle eye look at one clinic, but want other surgeries performed elsewhere.

as far as negotiating prices...i guess im nervous bcuz in my mind, i feel if u cut prices, they cut expertise. plz plz plz tell me i m just being paranoid there.

sorry if i asked some redundant questions, this thread is 473 pgs long, it is hard to remember it all.

to all who have shared their stories after ps, a big thank u!! your wealth of knowledge is helping all us newbies make life-changing decisions :)
o n thanks too to the ppl who have summarized this thread to narrow down choices.
Hi Karime,
I'm new to this site as well, and am planning on getting a jaw contouring and a rhinoplasty surgery done in late Nov. or early Dec 2012. I'm checking into BK currently and was hoping the surgeon would be able to perform both surgeries at the same time. I just sent BK an email requesting availability dates and asked for pricing. I'll let you know when I hear back.

hahahha!!! i am waiting for my noseplasty... on monday 15 oct... and leaving on 25 Oct... getting worried if I had enough time.

I thought i wont do it but...me the liar... been in Seoul since 11 oct but only went for 1 consultation with JW PS and I just booked it. met up with yumi the english consultant but my consultation was in korean though hahah... Dr Suh is quite nice and funny. did not even go for my consultation with ITEM even I had my appointment fixed...

now only worried what will happen if my sinus kicks in after my surgery... and the swelling... walking around seoul now to find cool pack... and not sure what to eat to keep the swell down...

any suggestions other than pumpkin juice which I have no idea where to get.... in Seoul.

thanks!
maybe you could head to the supermarkets and get juices like Guava, Orange or Grapefruit Juice... these juices are high in vit c.... Vitamin C helps the body maintain healthy tissues and a strong immune system, and it aids in the absorption of iron.

hmm... other alternatives, i heard pineapple juices reduces swelling as well...

from hongkongphooey:

If you are having any surgery that will restrict mouth movement then I would recommend you bring the following with you:

1) Protein & Carbohydrate Powder, buy two flavours ie; chocolate and strawberry otherwise it becomes a bit boring. Buy these from health stores I bought a large 2kg tub, they are the sort body builders drink as an alternative to food. You just need to mix with water and drink it like a milkshake. Make sure you bring a plastic drinks bottle with a large top so you can shake the mixture, similar to bicycle drinks bottles. If you don't buy anything else buy this, it was my lifesaver, without it I would have lost more than 10lbs in two weeks. This will keep your hunger pangs at bay, two mug fulls and you will feel like you've had a good dinner.

2) Powdered soup, the sort you make in a mug with hot water. Be careful to not buy any with bits in, like croutons as these will get stuck under your stitches and are not easy to rinse out and could cause infection.

3) Juices, especially pineapple juice, again with no bits in it. Pineapple has an enzyme that aids recovery more than orange juice. If you can't get a hold of pineapple go for Mango juice, it does not have the enzyme but it does hold more vitamin c per mouth full than orange juice and vitamin c also aids recovery.

4) Pumpkin juice. This is free if you have surgery with ID Hospital, otherwise you will need to buy it from pharmacies, not many food marts stock it.

Do NOT drink milk at least two weeks before surgery, milk produces phlegm and mucus and will restrict your breathing even further, take it from me, you will struggle to breathe for the first few days.

Do NOT eat any seafood for 2 weeks before surgery and 4 weeks after surgery. Seafood can cause infection.

Do NOT drink any alcohol or smoke at least one week before surgery and 4 weeks after surgery, this will slow down your recovery time considerably and you don't want to be flying home with stitches still in your mouth because you haven't healed sufficiently for them to be removed on day 14.

Do NOT have oatmeal until your stitches are removed you will get bits trapped in your mouth wounds and will be very difficult to rinse out.

Noodles are fine so long as you swallow straight down. I had noodles from day 7 onwards but I had to eat them very carefully and slowly. Same with bananas, ensure they are really ripe and soft then squidge them between your tongue and palette to swallow.

Surprisingly for the first few days you don't feel hunger at all but you will be very thirsty as your body is wanting to rid the general anaesthetic in your system.

I hope this advice will help you.

and from emisa: (hope i didn't get it wrongly)
Where to eat post surgery (for cheekbone reduction) near Sinsa area:-
1. A little eatery besides pet shop (near Highland hotel) has one of the best Udon noodles and its reasonably priced.

2. Fresh Burger - Where all the PS clinics are on the main road, the outlet is in the small street. If you walk around that area during the healing period, you might find it. Request for the burger without cheese. The minced beef is very fresh and soft enuff to chew. The bun is soft, fluffy and fragrant.

3. Pho (Vietnamese noodles) in any pho shop but can pass the bean sprout. Try to ask them to cut the beef slice into smaller pieces.

4. Tofu house (behind starbuck) - Should be between BK and Young Dong Hotel. Can request for non-spicy kind and pass the pork (can't chew)

5. Instant porridge (fm convenient store. C U near BK is the best for varieties and they could help you heat and pack if you are not sure)stand

I was told not to take beef so I took a little and alternate with others.

When I was better, I started venturing to different places for food.

hope it somehow helps... many apologies for the long post...

Hey Lotsajunkie,
This is sorta an emotional roller coaster that some of us went thru during the early healing stage. Like..why are we doing this to ourselves? We dun look bad to begin with..blah blah..This will pass as your condition improve. Just focus on whatever it takes to make you heal better and faster. Careful of your diet, walking, ice and warm compress, and supplements. I took papaya enzymes few days after the surgery and not sure if its coincidence, the condition improved so much more overnight. I can't pin point which one helps me since I took quite a no. of stuff. You might want to google about papaya enzyme first before taking.
Hi Emisa
Where did u buy the papaya enzymes? Are they available in Korea?

different clinics charge their prices differently... so i've no idea how to tell u the quote... u have to go to the clinics online and ask.... but first of all, have your research done online by googling or reading up past post... you cannot jus demand answers from the forum and get upset when no one replies to u...

1. Eg: these are the price list from teium (that i read was good for eye surgery)

http://english.teuimps.co.kr/english/05_community/community03.html

2. air tix from cali to sk... i dunno... since i'm not from the states... you could check with the airline companies in your area..

3. i believe the weather now there is autumn and turning winter soon... but during the winter season, its usually their peak season due to school holidays... you might want to book ur surgery/consultations early in advance... i can't recall which clinic website i read it from but it stated apparently, seasons doesn't really matter in healing...

but i do prefer to get it done when its autumn/winter coz if it gets so hot like in summer, and i'm all bandaged up n in the hotel room, i get even frustrated... frustration doesn't really aid in recovery process... if u get what i mean...

so .... hope it helps...
