No dear...That shouldn't be the first rule. If you read past pages, you would find a debate between Shane and HKP on this topic. Then, I wasn't sure who is right. Anyway, since I have intention to book Zoe and would also want to be on the safe side, I decided to call 1-2 clinics to check if they do pay commission if I bring along a translator and the replies were "no".

I asked Zoe about this issue as well. She told me that she did not collect any commission. IMO, I think even if she collects commission, I am alright coz like what Gingercandy said, the clients must hv justified the pricing to choose the clinic. I can't quote word by word but something along that line, Ginger? Is it or did I get it wrong?

Take my case for example. I find that the price of 16.5millionKRW is justifiable in my case coz it invloves cheekbone, mandible, full face fat graft and revised rhino with alar plasty. Infact, I did not get this price myself. It was through Zoe's help to negotiate. She explained that coz she happened to work there before and is in the senior position. The consultant is already telling us no more reduction after reducing to 17millionKRW. She kept saying no no, sorry, last price. Too much...Zoe left to look for the head and came back with a discount to final price of 16.5m. Like I mentioned before, she bargained as if she was the one paying. So, as long as I find it reasonable, I really do not care if ZOe gets a cut. Infact, I would be happy if she does coz the translation charge is so low, taking into account the effort and time she spent. I felt so bad that I decided to pay more in my own accord. I choose to use my conscience to think in someone's position. Someone who is making an honest living. Its people's livelihood..

I asked her why didn't she ask clinics for commission. She explained that it is not her personality to push a person to a clinic of her choice coz she understands its PS, and its impact on individual. She just can't bring herself to do that. She was depressed during that period esp when the accusation is not true. N people were forming different opinions tt she could not control while she really used her sincerity to help people. Worst, this job is her livelihood and she gets business through word of mouth. Could you imagine the possible adverse impact, should everyone swayed to that belief.

Kudos to your great bargaining prowess. But my deal is not too bad though not negotiated by me personally. I did use few other forumers' prices in different clinics and ID as reference though. Cheers. :D
Thank you for sharing your experience,Emisa. I like the shape of your nose. It looks great! I am new here.I start pay attention to this forum 1 month ago and I would like to visit Korea this coming May!

Hello!

Long time reader, first time poster.

I would like to share with you my experience with consultations I had this past September. Not a lot of people seem to be interested in two-jaw surgery though...

I have a long face, gummy smile, and when relaxed, my mouth just hangs open. My mouth protudes a bit as well. I wanted to pursue surgery three years ago during my very first trip to Seoul. I went for consultations at a couple of clinics and realized I didn't do enough research and I wasn't ready.

I went to Seoul for personal reasons for 10 days in September. I read through this whole forum and decided to consult for surgery. I made only two appointments prior to leaving for Seoul. One at atbeauty and the other at ID.

AtBeauty (atro.co.kr) - I chose to consult here because Dr. Park advertises 19 years of no mistakes, specializes in two-jaw surgery and protruding mouth, and only performs one surgery a day. He also has great reviews from the locals. When I met Dr. Park, I thought he was the correct choice. He was very detailed with me and made me feel very comfortable. He told me I have a very slight asymmetrical face (something I only noticed weeks before) and with two-jaw surgery and v-line, he can make it more symmetrical. At the same time, he suggested endotine to prevent sagging skin, because after the jaw and v-line, the "longer" side of my face will have "extra" skin. Braces are a must and have to be looked after by his orthodontist ONLY. I would have to fly back to Korea at least 4 more times. Other than that, Dr. Park is seems wonderful. He even told me that he waits for the patient to wake up for GA, see if he/she is okay, waits for the patient to fall back asleep, AND THEN leave for the day.
Price: Two-jaw surgery + v-line + sliding genio + braces + endotine = 26 mil won... but I brought it down to 20 mil won.

ID Hospital - I did not have a good experience here. I made an appointment to see Dr. Sanghoon Park. My aunt knows Dr. Park personally (although I didn't mention it to the consultany... I was planning on telling Dr. Park when he was meeting me). The consultant - for some unknown reason - was pushing another doctor onto me and kept pushing. I ended up meeting that other doctor (don't even remember his name) and was totally unimpressed by him. He was so wishy-washy in terms of whether or not I need braces - he didn't really care at all. Left the hospital realizing that ID is too business-oriented...
Price: 14 mil won

YK Plastic Surgery (yk5151.com) - My uncle found out that ID was not good so he asked his friend (who is a filler/botox distributer) if he knew anyone good at two-jaw surgery. We went to this clinic, but I felt a little nervous by the way Dr. Kim made two-jaw surgery sound so easy. Other than that, the consultation went great. He was very straight-forward with his diagnosis. He said braces are not required unless I really want them...
Price: two-jaw surgery + v-line + sliding genio = 14 mil won

I was torn between atbeauty and YK. I was leaning towards atbeauty, but my mom wanted me to consult more places. We made a quick appointment with faceline, and by "Six Degrees of Separation" we got an appointment at Grand.

Faceline - I did not like this place one bit. I don't trust that a doctor can consult without a proper x-ray or CT scan. I went in there knowing I did not want surgery there.
Price: I don't remember. Probably around 15-16 mil won.

Grand - I received special treatment here. There were many phone calls to get my appointment. Imagine the game broken telephone. I had a consultation with Dr. Kang Nara, a maxillofacial surgeon (not plastic surgeon). Dr. Kang was so detailed. He said the shape of my jawline does not need v-line (unless I REALLY want to) and only two-jaw surgery is needed. Braces are a MUST. Dr. Kang works closely with an orthodontist nearby, and he advised me that I can have another orthodontist in my own country adjust the braces after surgery. I ended up choosing Grand because I felt comfortable with this doctor and I believe that since he is a maxillofacial surgeon (not just a plastic surgeon), he knows my needs. I only really want to shorten my face.
Price: Two-jaw surgery + sliding genio = ?? mil won
braces = 5 mil won

I currently have braces on and will have them on for approx. 9 to 10 months after surgery. My surgery is scheduled for mid-November. If things turn out good, I might use my new connections for further surgeries (maybe v-line if asymmetry begins to bother me too much...)

Just want to say that if you have family or friends in Seoul who know good surgeons or know of good surgeons, please consult with them!!

I'm sure all will turn out aright. I believe most of the surgeons are highly skilled in Seoul! Just make sure they are actually licensed and have enough time to focus on YOUR surgery... Best of luck~! :D

Hiya Kkhim

Quick question, how to tell if the surgeons are licensed? Other than his graduate certificate from university.

Hi Kimjoo

Am i right to say only surgery involving bone alteration requires x-ray? Surgery like eyes does not require x-ray?

OK, so after doing some research on this forum and Daum, here's what I've come up with.

I'm really impressed with ID's professionalism toward locals AND international patients, and have read rave reviews about Dr. Park's facial contouring work. I've yet to find another clinic that actually provides virtual surgery simulation online. :)

I've also got my eyes set on Small Face because of their Before and After Gallery, which is formatted like a forum, where real patients post a multititude of pictures before and after surgery. It seemed like all B&A pictures were dramatic! What really got me, though, was the written reviews that accompanied the pictures. I feel like there are impressive B&A pictures from every clinic, so I don't really think they're good indicators of consistency. But I think there's something more "authentic/legitimate" about a B&A picture WITH a written review... it's like giving a name and voice to a face, ya know? Anyway, I had my Korean friend translate all 150+ reviews (I think there are more on the Korean website), and by the time we were done reading through all of it, he wanted to get v-line surgery too LOL. Pictures are worth a thousand words, so I attached a FEW of the B&A's I was impressed with.

So, I'm definitely doing 2-jaw surgery to fix my mouth + jaw protrusion at ID hospital. Dr. Park revolutionized 2-jaw surgery with his no-tie method, so I can't really imagine turning to his "apprentices" when the best is already in reach lol. I am torn between ID and Small Face for v-line though, because I want to do the 2-jaw and v-line surgery at the same time in the same clinic... but I'm just more drawn toward the consistently dramatic results I've seen from Small Face. I guess I'll know for sure when I actually consult with both clinics lol. Has anyone checked out or heard about Small Face for facial contouring? How is their post-op care? Please let me know. :)

I'm not quite sure where I'll get my under eye fat graft and loveband surgery, but I'm in search for a reputable doctor that has had plenty of experience in both. Does anyone know a clinic or hospital that actually specializes in these procedures? Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated! ^^

Aww,,, the after pictures are so amazing!

Hi there,

My nose got curved a bit after an accident. I want to correct Irvin Korea. I am planning to have different consultations in different clinic such as ID, BK, Grands this December. I may not have surgery directly. I am afraid of making quick decision because that is me. I really need to be careful about PS. I saw a lady who has done double eye-lid surgery. When she closes her eyes or blink, i can see the scar clearly, which freak me out a bit. Permanent scar!!!
Has anybody done nose correction surgery before??Which doctor is specialized in nose surgeries? I have posted a similar post before but no one replied.

Hope I can get some replies this time.

Thanks

Yes, recommendations certainly do help, and I think in your case you already decided you were going to go with Dr Kim because you already knew people who had surgeries done by him. For me, I already knew that all the surgeons I had my consultations booked with were going to be highly skilled surgeons, but I wanted to be picky with whom I chose. I had a zillion questions I had ready to asked, and since Dr Park ticked all my questions by the time I finished talking to him, that's when I knew he was the one! With Dr Hong, I could hardly ask any questions coz he told me what he wanted to do - and in fact what he suggested to do I knew would have made me look pretty bad - I knew I needed my wide nasal bone narrowed, as well as hump removal and tiplasty, but he was determined that I didn't need my bone narrowed. Through my extensive research I knew you can't - or shouldn't - do one without the other. Looking at my result now I am so pleased that the nasal bone was narrowed. But yeah, if I had just made the one appointment with BK then I would've been screwed coz I wouldn't have known where else to go. But, every nose and every case is different! At least you are happy with who you chose, and that's the main thing. Yeah, you're swelling will be like that for a while. I had bruising too under my eyes and the swelling made me look like a cabbage patch kid lol. I'm glad it's over with though - no more surgery (maybe non surgical lol but no more going under the knife for me!!)
Hello london_chick! I will be travelling from London too on the 30/10/12. I'm glad that you're happy with your post-op result :-) just a quick question, did you make an appointment with the clinics on the same day or way in advance? :-)

You're welcome. I am monitoring it everyday.

Yes, I am their PS mama (there's eveeve, eightbelow, gingercandy and vivi). You are welcome to join us. One additional brood! I am super kiasu. I took most things you name it coz of my age and I can;t hide for a month. So, I need supplements to help. I took Pianziwang, Sinnech, VitC, Bromelain, 5 green vegetable juice. pumpkin juice, Manuka Honey, and Papaya enzymes. :D

Hi emisa, how are you? Hope your swelling subside already. I hear that the recovery of patient from ID is longer compare to others such us BK or grand.
I wanna ask about Dr park n Dr gim, is Dr park is type of advisable person or only provide what you want. And Dr gim, is he good in make straight nose? Because you did mention that you need revision.

YK plastic surgery clinic look really good,Im so interested in their multi anti aging procedure, that girl look so much younger in the after pics too :O
such a pity they dont have english website, Kimjoo do the doctors there understand english or do they have translators at all?
Do you know where i can find atbeauty and YK's email address?
Thanks for the detailed description btw, very helpful :)
