Hahaha that would be funny. I'm living in Seattle, UW dorming. :) Where are you planning to get your surgery done?

Ok..i think you're much younger than me :) I graduated from UW a while back.

So i'm going to BK and working w/ Dr. Kim Byong. Heard he is an expert in the nose area. My gf got her nose done at this place in March and it looks realllllly good!

Depending on the procedure they quoted me between $3,000 and $4,000.

Have you decided on the place?

So yes, its scheduled for that friday at 11am. I go in for a consultation (with a 3D picture before and after look) at 9am and then i go straight into surgery......i'm a bit nervous! Also, i have a bulbous nose as well w/ bridge so no idea what kind of surgery they will do.

I did a $100 deposit for the surgery..not a big loss if i chicken out :) I'm staying a hotel called Brown Sweet (its apartment like hotel). Its a bit far from gangnam but we chose this place b/c it has two bedrooms in one hotel room.

Lastly, VLine sounds so invasive!!! i would just settle w/ eyes and nose. do you work? do you have to go back to work after the surgery?

So you havent decided on a hospital? For me, i didnt want to waste time getting consultations from different hospitals since my close friend recommended BK. Also, i need all the time i can get to recover before flying to Seattle.

Eee I'm excited/nervous FOR you! I'm sure it'll turn out great. Did they recommend anything? Maybe just tiplasty? Are you going to try to negotiate the price down? It doesn't seem like you need to do much.

I flip flop from wanting vline to not everyday. I won't get it this time around because I don't want everyone to notice my wonky smile at school while I'm recovering hehe.

I'll probably try to go to 4 tops because I'll be dragging my cousins along with me... I'm hopeless with directions. And I work for my family (on 5th ave -- super close to you!) so taking time off is no big deal. 2 weeks off to heal should be enough imo.. I think you'll be OK. :)

Yes to both! I'm going in December. :D What are you getting done?

I dislike the fact that BK spends so much on advertising internationally.. they don't seem very popular with the locals, the aftercare doesn't seem so great and I've read so many times that it feels somewhat like a "factory" but some people's results are so amazing that I can't cross them off my list :p

Whoa you're going in December? So am I! Lol!

Does anyone know what this kind of surgery is called, or if it's even possible?

Know what I mean?

No dear...That shouldn't be the first rule. If you read past pages, you would find a debate between Shane and HKP on this topic. Then, I wasn't sure who is right. Anyway, since I have intention to book Zoe and would also want to be on the safe side, I decided to call 1-2 clinics to check if they do pay commission if I bring along a translator and the replies were "no".

I asked Zoe about this issue as well. She told me that she did not collect any commission. IMO, I think even if she collects commission, I am alright coz like what Gingercandy said, the clients must hv justified the pricing to choose the clinic. I can't quote word by word but something along that line, Ginger? Is it or did I get it wrong?

Take my case for example. I find that the price of 16.5millionKRW is justifiable in my case coz it invloves cheekbone, mandible, full face fat graft and revised rhino with alar plasty. Infact, I did not get this price myself. It was through Zoe's help to negotiate. She explained that coz she happened to work there before and is in the senior position. The consultant is already telling us no more reduction after reducing to 17millionKRW. She kept saying no no, sorry, last price. Too much...Zoe left to look for the head and came back with a discount to final price of 16.5m. Like I mentioned before, she bargained as if she was the one paying. So, as long as I find it reasonable, I really do not care if ZOe gets a cut. Infact, I would be happy if she does coz the translation charge is so low, taking into account the effort and time she spent. I felt so bad that I decided to pay more in my own accord. I choose to use my conscience to think in someone's position. Someone who is making an honest living. Its people's livelihood..

I asked her why didn't she ask clinics for commission. She explained that it is not her personality to push a person to a clinic of her choice coz she understands its PS, and its impact on individual. She just can't bring herself to do that. She was depressed during that period esp when the accusation is not true. N people were forming different opinions tt she could not control while she really used her sincerity to help people. Worst, this job is her livelihood and she gets business through word of mouth. Could you imagine the possible adverse impact, should everyone swayed to that belief.

Kudos to your great bargaining prowess. But my deal is not too bad though not negotiated by me personally. I did use few other forumers' prices in different clinics and ID as reference though. Cheers. :D

Hi Emisa,

Do you have Zoe's contact number?

Hiya! Thanks for following my progress :-) I'm back home now and it feels really weird being back. I miss Seoul though :-(

Sure, Nicole's email is [email protected] She's actually on holiday in Taiwan as of yesterday for a week (we still kakao eachother) but I think she will still check her email. Good luck for your surgery in Feb! :-)
HI London_Chick,

Is Nicole a translator as well as offers to help post-op care?

Hey girls,

I have been emailing a few clinics but only Regen, Vip and dr Kang from IOU got back to me. Have anyone here have recent surgery done with Dr Kang? He seems nice and quite honest about his recommendations.

im heading there late March till early April 2013. Anyone going there at the same time? Its my first time, so would love to buddy up!

It's called an orthognathic surgery, which addresses many problems. The particular facial feature you described seems to be "mouth protrusion."

See, e.g., http://eng.idhospital.com/jaw/jaw04.php

The surgery is probably the most intense of all procedures, requiring the removal of teeth, breaking of jaws, affixation of titanium nails, one month of recovery, and six months of othodontic treatment (braces). Revision is impossible.

The upside? Orthognathic surgery is known to bring about transcending change in one's facial feature.
