Oh! One thing that does occur to me to recommend is this awesome insulated mug that has a locking mechanism on the lid so it doesn't open up in your nice bags ....also the smallest size fits really well in many bags https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HYOGTQ4 Could be something to consider if you are toting water (or coffee/tea) around - I love the peace of mind of having the lid lock for bag carrying.

It also keeps things hot or cold for a super long time!

Anyone else have water monger children who insist on a water bottle but refuse to carry it? This is why I am still living that garden party lyfe.
I've heard really good things about the brand @catin recommended but haven't used it myself... that lock looks sweet! I do however think the open mouthpiece could lead to massive kid-spilling (at least my kid would spill that flippin' everywhere!) Here's another almost identical concept to that one (insulated etc. but has a straw for kids) which is what we got after many friends recommended it: 12oz kid size Thermos "Funtainer". Below is a link for a pink one, it comes in like 20 colors. Bonus, the straws are replaceable if your kid (like mine) chews on straws. I haven't gone crazy and tested it to its leak-proof limits but it click-locks very satisfyingly and I personally wouldn't hesitate to throw it in a bag... I sometimes steal it and use it myself :) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DAPQT3O

Oh good call @hermesgeek! My DH and I both use flat foldable travel water bottles since we both travel for work a lot. We went through a few brands and settled on the Vapur bottles because they (unlike others) design the dimensions of the bottle to nest nicely within the carabiner clip when rolled up (shown in the photo, https://www.amazon.com/Vapur-Eclipse-Flexible-Water-Bottle/dp/B01H3BNWXA). Other brands have clips for ostensibly the same concept, but most make the bottle slightly too large to nest in the carabiner. Also great for hiking and running around with kiddo when sometimes I want to bring a bottle to fill/drink on the go but not leave it filled when in my bag.

Tip... I fill mine about half full (which still gives you the same amount of water as a disposable plastic bottle), gently press out the excess air and then I clip it to the outside of my expensive bags when traveling. The inside of the carabiner is very smooth and has never damaged my bags. Squeezing out the excess air means it's wayyyy less likely to leak and will also be basically flat when closed so it easily slips into tight side pockets of travel bags or seatback pockets without taking up extra room. I've never had a Vapur bottle leak on me except when my DH put sparkling water in it once - carbonation will bust the glued seams of most flat bottles. I've used these nonstop for probably 8yrs.

I'm learning so much from you guys! These bottle options are great.

Ditto from your post! I have heard such awesome things about that brand and I need a new coffee mug so I'm probably going to get one of theirs. Re. water bottles, it's just par for the course, I am a tad obsessed with optimizing things in my life ;)

I know this is an Hermes post but it does depend on the age of the child. For true “babies” I’d recommend a backpack. I love my Senreve midi Maestra and sometimes even used an actual “diaper backpack” for excursions. This may be an unpopular opinion but the Evelyne 33 is also great bc it carries a lot but is a crossbody. For just everyday, on the go, a Longchamp Le Pliage or an LV Neverfull MM is great! I’ve also sometimes used my Picotin 26 - great size and I clip my keys (which are on a strap) to the little buckle at the top. It’s a comfy bag. I’m actually considering a GP 36 now which is how I found this thread. Now that I know that it CAN fit over the shoulder, I think I’m sold.
