FUN!! Congratulations on your incoming bag!! I crave for the feeling of awaiting the arrival of any bag from Hermès!! It feels so giddy and inexplicable!! About the picotin! I know the website is crazy these days, all the good stuff are gone super fast! Lesson learned, if you see something you want, hit that add to cart button like you’ve never did before!
It’s insane, I saw one pop up after refreshing the page and it was gone within seconds. - how’s it even possible lol?

I’m going to have an unpopular opinion.

Hermes does not make a good “Mommy” or Diaper bag.

Mommy bags IMO should be inexpensive. Things that you won’t get upset if they’re soiled by vomit, poo, or pee. Which inevitably occurs with young kids. And you need to set said bags down in less than sanitary conditions, e.g. public changing facilities.

Babies and young kids can be at times gross, and sticky. They don’t understand precious things. I remember reading that one of Victoria Beckham’s kids got ketchup on one of her shiny croc bags....

if you are comfortable putting a 4- to 5-figure bag in the washing machine... Go right ahead.

The good thing is that kids grow up. Then you can wear nice things again.

I personally would not use a Hermes bag for a diaper bag (though I am not sure what is what you mean by a mommy bag). If you have children out of diapers and looking for something a bit more spacious to cart around your stuff plus some extra kids stuff (toy, sweater etc) there are lots of options but I would use an insert to help you stay organized and keep the bag clean. H does not spa the inside of a bag. I love the GP and have two but I always worry about staining the canvas liner. I use a bag insert plus keep many of my things in clear plastic pouches to help keep the bag clean.

This reminds me of an incident. My friend was carrying her infant daughter when she threw up all over her. Her top, bag, etc... yep, almost everything needed laundering.

I think you are absolutely right, having said that. I’m ok with the gp being the work horse during tougher mommy days. Be it spillage or whatever natural may occur. That’s why I don’t want to use my k,b,cs. Equally, I don’t want to waste money on cheaper bags that I will just get rid off in a month. I prefer a stained GP than a cheap substitute in a long run.

Which colours do you have? Sorry I am not sure if this has been answered before..

I don’t have good mommy colours. I have a pop of colour (vert verone) and a light colour. I also have recently purchased a bleu nuit online but will likely return it because I have a Evelyne in that colour and have navy tote style bags. If I was to get another one I would probably choose black or gold in vache country leather. Ebene and the greys are also lovely.

When my kids were little, I bought a Vuitton Speedy. I brought it everywhere. My kid accidentally squirted mustard on it at Disney World. I just used a wet napkin to clean it with no problem. I used it to death. I bought it for $400, then sold it for $300 15 years later.

I would buy a Vuitton or Goyard bag as a Mom tote once the kids are past diapers and projectile vomiting.

When my kids were babies I loved using Chanel woc. I could keep my essentials close to me and use a canvas bag for baby stuff. I think having a crossbody bag is key when chasing after little ones. Now my kids are in grade school and I want to get a GP30 for a work/weekday bag and for travel. I love my mini bags but nowadays I end up carrying so much extra (hand sanitizers, masks, umbrellas) I need a roomier bag. Hoping the GP30 will fit that need.

I think that a mommy bag changes very rapidly. I have a 3-year-old, and my needs with him are much different than what I needed to carry a few years ago. Right now, he is old enough to carry his own little backpack with toys or personal items if needed, or I just let him carry one item out of the house. For me, I need to bring some wipes, a diaper or two (hopefully will be a change of underwear soon), a second outfit, and that's it for him. It really isn't all that much! When he was 1, my bag was a lot heavier!
