I think that a mommy bag changes very rapidly. I have a 3-year-old, and my needs with him are much different than what I needed to carry a few years ago. Right now, he is old enough to carry his own little backpack with toys or personal items if needed, or I just let him carry one item out of the house. For me, I need to bring some wipes, a diaper or two (hopefully will be a change of underwear soon), a second outfit, and that's it for him. It really isn't all that much! When he was 1, my bag was a lot heavier!
It’s very true! Now that my eldest is 7 I’m back to mini bags! But not for long :graucho:

Okay so let me begin. My best mommy Hermès bag is this lindy 34 etoupe in clemence. It fits everything I need, from my essentials, snacks, and scarves/shawl to my children’s toys, knick knacks, or whatnot. Everything fits! Sometimes I wish I can say my birkin 35 is my best mommy bag but it doesn’t have the comfort and practicality the lindy has as I can and always wear it on my shoulder, especially when I need my hands free which is what I love most about the lindy. I wear it exactly how it is in this photo. However, I do close the right zip from time to time depending on the security of the place I’m at. View attachment 4805235
I'm late to the thread here but thank you for sharing what you put in your L30. Would you be willing to share how you pack it for kid/baby? Organizer, no?

I use a small crossbody bag (mini bolide, mini kelly, mini halzan, Constance 18, evie tpm) for my phone, wallet and keys. Everything else goes into a Le Sportsac diaper bag that I can throw in the washing machine. This way I also don’t worry about leaving the diaper bag behind on the stroller or in the car if I run around with the kids.

Genius. Love this idea.

Would love to share photos! But, I’m currently quarantined in another country far away from my lindy 34 (yes, I regret not bringing it cause my B35 is already killing my arms, we didn’t expect to be quarantined for so long here). So I’d probably get back to you on the photos. For now, I’ll share what I put in it. I do use an organizer, I use the H fourbi 25 for my daily essentials (phone, wallet, card holder, hand sanitizer, sunglass case, key holder, etc..) then for the remaining room, which is still a lot, I have a small make up bag good enough to fit essentials, a regular sized iPad, sometimes I also bring an iPad mini. And for the remaining room, I stuff several toys from barbies, dinosaur figurines, and whatever my daughter feels like playing with at the moment. When she was a baby, it was all extra diapers, wipes, and rattle toys that I choose not to put in my diaper bag for easy to reach purposes.

The lindy 34 is my workhorse, I fill it to the brim and enjoy it worry free. It is so much roomier than it looks. Plus, it is very comfortable on the shoulder cause of its wide strap. I’ve been using it since 2012 and I think it’s the most “worth it” Hermès bags I own to date. Hope this helps!

Ug I'm so sorry to hear you're quarantined in another country! That's awful! Were you on vacation when that happened??

Re. the organization, thank you for the help. It's really great to hear what you put in there and also how you pack it. When you say you have extra room around the foubi, is that because you're using a 25 within the L34, so 9cm extra space?

Re. the fourbi, I've heard so-so things about them, mainly that they're too soft to provide much organization help, but within the L obviously something too structured would defeat the purpose of the shape. But you love it? I saw this and thought it was interesting (it at least allows the L to fold) but it doesn't look that useful either ;) https://www.etsy.com/listing/748250544/lindy-26-30-34-felt-purse-insert-type. If you weren't to stuff the L to the gills, would the fourbi allow the L to do it's pretty cookie-shaped fold?

I love the "most worth it" feedback, I've never heard it put quite that way and it was my gut feeling that having a L would be that way for me too.

I’m going to have an unpopular opinion.

Hermes does not make a good “Mommy” or Diaper bag.

Mommy bags IMO should be inexpensive. Things that you won’t get upset if they’re soiled by vomit, poo, or pee. Which inevitably occurs with young kids. And you need to set said bags down in less than sanitary conditions, e.g. public changing facilities.

Babies and young kids can be at times gross, and sticky. They don’t understand precious things. I remember reading that one of Victoria Beckham’s kids got ketchup on one of her shiny croc bags....

if you are comfortable putting a 4- to 5-figure bag in the washing machine... Go right ahead.

The good thing is that kids grow up. Then you can wear nice things again.
This is exactly what I was thinking as I read the thread heading!

Well, it’s actually not so bad since we’re at our second home, it’s just that we didn’t expect to stay this long! But I won’t complain, there’s more serious things going on in the world.

Yes, what I meant when I said extra room was Any space unoccupied by the fourbi and it’s a LOT cause the fourbi is soft and could be squished when I need more space outside the organizer.

About the fourbi, it’s nothing more than a bag pouch. Nothing special but it does its job (at least for me cause all I wanted from it was to hold my things in place.) but, if structure is one thing you want to get from an organizer, fourbi’s not the one. But as you said for a lindy, I think it’s perfect since it doesn’t force shape on the bag which lets the bag shape itself(one of the things I love about the lindy) And yes! The fourbi folds with the bag when I carry it with its two handles which give it the dumpling shape!

It’s worth it in a sense that it’s my most used Hermès bag. And when I say used, I mean USED! All because of its comfort and convenience. It surprisingly transitions well too! When I’m on my most casual self I wear it with its shoulder strap but when I feel chic, I hand carry it with its two handles. It’s a practical bag. It’s not for everyone but if you like it’s design and if it suits your lifestyle, then go for it cause it’s the most comfortable bag I own. So comfortable I choose to use it more than my Goyard St Louis tote!

Glad to hear you're not stuck someplace awful! But nonetheless I bet it's hard to feel like you can't go home. Appreciate the clarification on space/fourbi! Sounds like that's a perfect organizer for the L given it's soft shape. What leather is yours? I love swift but it's so much harder to find than clemence... I'd probably use the L as hard as you have!

I have a clemence in etoupe! I love swift too, I have it in my toolbox 26. However, I don’t think swift can take the battery as much as the clemence can if it were on my lindy. My toolbox is less used but shows more wear than any of my grained leathers. I feel like Clemence’s pebbled grains reduce the wear on the bag, corner wear/scuffing are way less visible and less likely to happen. Good luck on your hunt! Be sure to share pictures on this thread of your new mommy bag once you’ve found one!

Good call on the corners, I didn't consider that. Maybe I'll just go clemence :) I will post photos if/when I find "the one"!
